Following TWICE Nayeon’s involvement in the 2024 Waterbomb event, the idol faced criticism for her weight, but her fans quickly came to her defense by praising her figure.

Nayeon recently displayed a more daring and confident image than her usual self in TWICE as she took the stage solo at the 2024 Waterbomb event, challenging herself as a solo artist.

The water-themed summer festival is not just a performance, but also an opportunity for female idols to showcase their sexy and alluring image. As a result, there is a great anticipation for how these idols will impress the audience.

Despite the high body standards among Korean netizens, they were not impressed by her outfit and argued that it did not suit her body type. They also asserted that she had gained weight and suggested that she should have exercised and managed her weight before the event.

Despite Koreans blaming her for not putting in enough effort to achieve a desired body, international ONCEs (fandom) who witnessed these comments condemned K-netz for their harmful feedback.

They pointed out the absurdity of the body standard and criticized those who fat-shamed Nayeon, acknowledging that they themselves may also be struggling to attain such a figure.

Despite criticism, ONCEs and even non-TWICE supporters came together to combat the negativity surrounding Nayeon’s physique and instead praised her for promoting a positive message about healthy living and body image.

In the world of K-pop, female idols are often considered sexy if they possess tiny waists, narrow shoulders, and slim legs. However, TWICE, including Nayeon, confidently embrace their unique physiques, challenging the notion that there is only one standard of beauty. They remind their fans that all body types are beautiful and should be celebrated.

Additionally, online commentators are asking for K-netz to reevaluate their understanding of the word “fat”and to be reminded that it is not a punishable offense to be overweight.

Despite this, Nayeon, who is known as the center and vocalist of TWICE, has recently embarked on a solo career. She released her new album, “NA,”with the title track “ABCD”on June 14 and has been actively promoting it in the past month.

Upon its debut, it received immense adoration from both domestic and global music charts.

By releasing her album, she made history as the only K-pop female soloist to have two consecutive albums enter the top 10 of the U.S. Billboard’s main album chart, Billboard 200. This achievement was in addition to her debut album, “IM NAYEON,”which was released in 2022.

Furthermore, “NA”achieved 43,000 album sales and 4,000 SEA unit sales, with the latter being a conversion of streaming numbers to album sales. According to Luminate statistics, this brought the total sales to 47,000. Notably, the album claimed the top spot on the “Top Album Sales”chart, making it the highest-selling album in the United States for a week.
