Twitch Faces Backlash from Streamers Over Marvel Rivals Tournament Chaos

The Marvel Rivals Twitch Rivals tournament has recently come under fire from several participants who expressed their frustrations regarding abrupt rule modifications and last-minute alterations to team compositions. Reports from creators such as dokibird indicate that the tournament’s guidelines shifted from requiring two players with a GM+ status per team up to four, only to revert back to two just a day before the competition began.

This series of changes disrupted pre-tournament scrimmages, forcing teams to reconfigure their rosters unexpectedly. As a result, many players had to part ways with some of their strongest teammates, leading to dissatisfaction among both those actively competing and those who were removed from contention.

Streamers Voice Concerns Over Tournament Management

Numerous creators involved in the tournament have publicly criticized Twitch’s management of the Marvel Rivals competition. This includes prominent figures such as Valkyrae and Myth, who argue that assembling high-level players undermines the event’s competitive spirit. Bogur has been particularly vocal, especially because Sykkuno — a favored streamer — initially faced exclusion from the event. Although Sykkuno was later reinstated, bogur’s team suffered significantly from the last-minute rule changes, leading him to feel they were unfairly penalized compared to other squads.

Sykkuno also expressed dissatisfaction with the event’s organizers for his initial exclusion, although he returned to the competition while bogur and Necros lost key teammates during the team restructuring.

Coney, a recurrent competitor in Twitch Rivals and other streamer tournaments like the Sajam Slam, echoed similar sentiments of frustration. He lamented the unprofessionalism that he and his team endured, particularly considering the impact on those who might not frequently get the opportunity to compete at such levels.
