Twitch Upgrades Clip Editor with New Features Perfect for TikTok-Style Videos

Twitch has recently enhanced its clip editor with new features, making it effortless to create TikTok-inspired videos in a timely manner.

The clip editor, a popular feature on the Amazon-owned platform, has only improved over the years since its launch, solidifying its position as one of Twitch’s most beloved tools.

The company announced on August 28, 2024, its newest enhancement to the clip editor, which now includes a built-in feature for creating vertical videos that can be easily shared on various social media platforms.

In a tweet, Twitch stated that a portrait version will automatically be generated when creating a clip, making it easy to share on social media for discovery.

By clicking on the clip button on a stream, the new editor allows you to simultaneously edit both the horizontal and vertical versions of the clip.

To create the standard, horizontal version of the clip, simply select the specific section and duration you wish to highlight. Then, assign a name to the clip and click on the publish button.

To easily turn the clip into a TikTok video, simply click on the “Edit Layout” button located below the vertical version on the right side. This will allow you to select which parts of the stream you want to highlight and also add a second source to the video.

According to Twitch’s blog post, the streamer’s webcam is displayed on top of their gameplay. This layout preference will be saved by Twitch for future clips.

Users can choose to either download and save both versions of the clips or directly export them to TikTok or YouTube if they have a linked account.

This update is ideal for both streamers and individuals who manage TikTok or YouTube accounts featuring clips of popular Twitch streamers.

Several streamers provide support for fans who operate these channels, such as Twitch personality Hasan. He was surprised to discover that one of his admirers had used a channel filled with his Twitch clips to pay off his college debt.
