Streamlined Virtualization Management in Windows 11
Windows 11 introduces a new feature that simplifies the management of virtualization components via the Settings app, specifically through the recently introduced Virtual Workspaces page.
Overview of Virtual Workspaces
This innovative page provides users with the ability to easily enable or disable key virtualization features such as Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox, Containers, and more, all with a single click. This change is part of Microsoft’s ongoing initiative to enhance the user experience by consolidating functionalities in one accessible location.
Accessing Virtual Workspaces
To navigate to the new Virtual Workspaces settings, follow this simple path: Settings > Advanced > Virtual Workspaces. This section is included in the December 2025 Security Update and replaces the traditional “Windows Features” page, making it easier for users to manage virtualization settings.
Available Virtualization Features
The Virtual Workspaces page allows you to manage a variety of virtualization features that enhance your system’s capabilities. Here are the components that can be accessed directly:
- Containers: Offers tools and services to create and manage Windows Server Containers.
- Guarded Host: Allows the creation and operation of Shielded Virtual Machines with remote attestation.
- Virtual Machine Platform: Provides essential support for running virtual machines.
- Windows Hypervisor Platform: Facilitates the operation of virtualization software on the Windows hypervisor.
- Windows Sandbox: Installs the necessary dependencies to run sandbox scenarios effectively.
- Hyper-V GUI Management Tools: Includes essential tools like the Hyper-V Manager snap-in and Virtual Machine Connection tool.
- Hyper-V Module for Windows PowerShell: Incorporates cmdlets for managing Hyper-V via PowerShell.
- Hyper-V Hypervisor: Provides the core Hypervisor necessary for operation.
- Hyper-V Services: Offers services to create and oversee virtual machines and associated resources.
Installation Process
When you opt to enable a feature, the system will display a loading image indicating that the installation is in progress. Please note that a system reboot may be necessary for the changes to take effect.

Continued Use of Legacy Options
While users can now manage virtualization services from the Settings app, the legacy “Windows Features” page and relevant PowerShell commands remain available for those who prefer traditional methods of managing these features.
