Recent updates in the meta have propelled Bandit into one of the top contenders thanks to the powerful Black Hole build, which leverages his formidable attack speed scaling.
Understanding Bandit’s Strengths: Stats and Passive
Bandit boasts a unique passive ability that grants him +1% Attack Speed with each level. This enhancement synergizes well with setups that demand quick procs and effective execution strikes. While he doesn’t possess the same level of sustain as characters like Megachad (associated with Interlink), Bandit compensates for his lack of durability with remarkable speed and an impressive scaling capacity.

As Bandit increases his attack speed, he triggers more effects from legendary items like Joe’s Dagger, which are pivotal for achieving victory with this build.
Ultimate Bandit Build in Megabonk
The optimal Bandit setup revolves around a potent combination of Black Hole and Size Tome, complemented by tomes that enhance execution, luck, and experience scaling.
Essential Weapons for Bandit
- Black Hole (Primary weapon)
- Katana (excellent synergy with size scaling)
- Dexecutioner
- Aura (Optional: Flamewalker, Lightning Staff, Banana, Axe)
Black Hole is a key element of the build. When paired with Size Tome, the black holes expand significantly, providing excellent crowd control and safety even in extended gameplay. The Katana also benefits from size scaling, allowing for wide-range attacks. The Aura item is valuable, not necessarily for its strength but for quelling the potential performance drops that this intense build could cause.

Top Tomes for Bandit Configuration
- Size Tome (essential for the build)
- XP Tome
- Luck Tome
- Cursed Tome
The Size Tome is crucial for enhancing the effectiveness of both Black Hole and additional weaponry. The XP Tome increases enemy spawn density, leading to greater XP gains and opportunities to scale effectively, although it shouldn’t be picked too early. While XP gain is capped at 10×, the Luck Tome remains uncapped, making it vital for boosting late-game advantages.
Optimal Items for Bandit Play
- Joe’s Dagger: The foundation of the build. Aim for 15–20 daggers, then banish excess copies to diversify your legendary gear.
- Zawardo: A safeguard during ghost overtime, allowing gameplay to extend beyond the 60-minute threshold.
- Magnet Legendary: One instance is needed for automatic XP collection every 30 seconds, with additional copies being unnecessary.
- Moldy Cheese / Poison: Strong early-game damage over time (DOT) until you secure your Daggers.
- Mirror, Ice Cube, Spicy Meatball, Slutty Canon: Optional damage options that could yield massive damage outputs with favorable luck.
While the Anvil might be favored by some other characters in the game, it is overrated for this specific Bandit build.
Navigating Gameplay with Bandit
Early Game Strategies (Zone 1)
Avoid leveling Black Hole early, as its early upgrades are ineffective for farming. Instead, prioritize boosting Katana or using Aura. Seek out upgrades that increase projectile counts since you won’t have access to the Projectile Tome initially, and focus on acquiring the XP Tome. The aim during Stage 1 is to become self-sustaining before facing the boss ghost wave, acquiring sufficient tomes, Joe’s Daggers, and ideally 2 Lamps to ensure long-term viability.
Mid Game Development (Zone 2)
This phase is where your scaling begins to take off. Allocate resources to the XP and Luck Tomes, and add the Cursed Tome once your damage is consistent. The objective is to rapidly amass experience and level up quickly. Securing Joe’s Dagger before Stage 3 overtime is crucial for survival. Until then, balance damage output with Black Hole and Katana while farming as much XP as possible.
Late Game Strategy (Zone 3 & Beyond)
During this phase, Black Hole’s size and Bandit’s escalating attack speed dominate the gameplay. The chest obtained at Stage 3 should yield multiple legendary items, ideally those highlighted in the best items section. With this configuration, you can enter an automated farming mode against ghosts until the crucial 60-minute mark. Beyond this threshold, the enemies can become overwhelming; without Zawardo, the advisable course is to exit around the 59-minute mark. With Zawardo in play, tempt fate until you fall, then access the boss portal and repeat the farming process.

CAUTION: Advancing to this stage using this Bandit build may lead to performance issues on your PC due to the numerous visual effects.
Currently, Bandit’s Black Hole build is among the top tiers in Megabonk, capable of achieving 1 million kills and topping the leaderboards. Special thanks to Martyr_Dom for refining this exceptional build.
