After enduring over a year of challenges, setbacks, and numerous attempts, the notoriously difficult Pokémon Super Kaizo Ironmon challenge has finally been conquered. This extreme iteration of the beloved Nuzlocke format elevates the stakes within Pokémon FireRed to unprecedented levels, testing even the most experienced players.
The Super Kaizo Ironmon challenge was conceived by Twitch streamer and creator iateyourpie on March 18, 2024, aiming to push gameplay to its limits. Differing significantly from standard self-imposed game modes, this challenge forces players to rely on a single Pokémon, prohibits healing during battles, disables any stat-boosting moves, and features randomized opponents equipped with smarter AI and optimized items. The challenge is unforgiving, and until recently, it had seemed unbeatable.
Historic Achievement: Super Kaizo Ironmon Completed
On June 27, 2025, the Twitch streamer known as Reimi achieved a milestone by successfully completing a full run of the Super Kaizo Ironmon challenge after 8, 502 attempts. His victory marked the end of a grueling 15-month period during which countless players attempted and failed to conquer this intense trial.
As reported by GamesRadar, estimates suggest that over 100, 000 attempts were made by players before anyone could successfully complete the challenge. Many struggles stemmed from early-game setbacks, where trainers often faced untimely defeats due to critical hits or the unpredictability of gym leader battles influenced by random number generation (RNG).
Reimi’s successful run was propelled by an exceptional Crobat, affectionately named Heskey, who not only survived but triumphed over the Elite Four and defeated his rival. This momentous achievement quickly gained traction within the Pokémon challenge community, receiving widespread admiration and awe from fellow Ironmon competitors.
“Honestly, I thought we’d be playing this for years, ” Reimi remarked following his hard-earned victory.“And a Crobat, a friggin’ Crobat, we’re so back!”
