In Dying Light: The Beast, crafting a diverse array of weapons and ammunition is central to the gameplay experience. For players who prefer ranged weapons like bows, acquiring feathers is essential.

Feathers, unlike common materials such as scraps, present a greater challenge in terms of obtaining them. Fortunately, I’ve identified an effective early-game farming strategy that allows players to gather feathers quickly and affordably. Follow this guide to master feather farming in Dying Light: The Beast.

How to Farm Feathers in Dying Light: The Beast

Once you complete the main mission titled “Life After Life”, you will gain access to the first trader located in the Town Hall safehouse, known as Doug.

Doug offers a variety of items, including weapons, healing supplies, and crafting materials, and he also purchases valuable items from players. Notably, he maintains a small but consistent stock of feathers, which you can acquire efficiently by causing his inventory to refresh in less than a minute.

Step 1: Purchase Doug’s Feathers

  • Approach Doug and buy all available feathers, typically ranging from 2 to 6 feathers per transaction.

Step 4: Return to the Safehouse

Afterward, sprint back to Doug in the Town Hall safehouse. His inventory will be refreshed, allowing you to purchase more feathers instantly. Each set of feathers costs 12 Old World Money, which is quite affordable.

Based on my testing, it’s important to proceed all the way to the stairs to trigger the inventory refresh. Simply looping inside the safehouse won’t suffice. The total round trip lasts approximately 35 to 40 seconds, enabling you to repeat this process until your funds are depleted.

Resources Available from Doug

In addition to feathers, Doug stocks a variety of other materials that you can also farm utilizing the same method outlined above:

Natural Locations for Finding Feathers in Dying Light: The Beast

Feathers can be quite elusive in Dying Light: The Beast, often found after looting enemies or scouring stashes. Common locations include fashion stores, elevated areas across the map, and the cabins in greener regions designated as safe zones.

It’s worth noting that hunting for feathers independently can prove to be a frustrating experience due to their random spawning. Therefore, acquiring them directly from various traders often proves to be a more efficient strategy.

Crafting with Feathers

Feathers are essential for crafting bows and arrows, which play a crucial role in enhancing your ranged combat capabilities within Dying Light: The Beast. For players who cherish the stealth and precision that bows offer, maintaining a significant stock of arrows is vital for effective gameplay.

Despite their scarcity, feathers significantly simplify the crafting of these vital ranged weapons and ammunition, making the farming of this resource highly beneficial.
