The Exotic Glaives in Destiny 2 have long been regarded as underperforming weapons, whose utility seemed insufficient given their class exclusivity. While the Edge of Concurrence—the Hunter Glaive—held some merit, the other two, the Edge of Action and Edge of Intent, were often criticized as some of the least effective Exotics available. However, the recent Episode Heresy update has transformed these Glaives significantly through substantial buffs.

With these adjustments, both the Edge of Action and Edge of Intent now feature a new charge mechanic that necessitates accumulating six charges to trigger their special abilities. Charges can be obtained by either attacking enemies with the Glaives or executing melee strikes, granting one charge for each successful hit.

Once you achieve six charges, you can unleash a potent special attack, summoning a Remote Shield with the Edge of Action or a Restorative Turret with the Edge of Intent. These abilities can dramatically enhance gameplay: the Remote Shield provides a continuous Void Overshield, while the Restorative Turret grants ongoing health restoration.

By strategically utilizing these buffs and maintaining either a shield or turret, players can achieve a near-unkillable state during various in-game activities. With the right combination of setup, such as staying within melee distance for charge accumulation, even challenging bosses can be faced without significant risk.

Moreover, the recent updates have equipped both Glaives with their subclasses’ most powerful perks. This means players can now utilize Destabilizing Rounds on the Edge of Action and the Incandescent perk on the Edge of Intent, enabling them to effectively clear out enemy adds.

Did Edge of Concurrence Miss Out on Buffs?

While Edge of Concurrence did receive a minor boost with the addition of the Jolting Feedback perk, which allows for easier infliction of Jolt status on enemies, it remains largely outperformed by its counterparts.

Currently, Edge of Concurrence feels somewhat limited in utility, primarily functioning as an electric weapon for add clearing—especially effective during enemy-heavy activities like Onslaught. Although it was regarded as the superior Glaive prior to the latest updates, it arguably falls short compared to the enhanced capabilities of the others.

On a positive note, all three Exotic Glaives can now be employed across any class as of the Episode Heresy update. While this change may currently be perceived as a glitch, there is also a possibility that Bungie has finally decided to eliminate class restrictions altogether. Many players will undoubtedly welcome this shift, as class-locking weapons has not been well-received within the community.

Additionally, these Glaive adjustments are not the only changes affecting the game’s weapon meta. The return of No Land Beyond has been leaked for the current episode, reintroducing one of the original Destiny franchise’s most iconic firearms.
