To successfully unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World, players are required to complete various tasks in both standard races and Free Roam.Although unlocking this popular mode may require some effort, we have precisely outlined the necessary steps to achieve it. Some challenges will be enjoyable, while others may demand patience and perseverance.

The tasks needed to unlock Mirror Mode include:

  • Complete all 7 Grand Prix on 150CC – Achieving first place or earning stars isn’t required; simply finishing each race will suffice.
  • Finish all 8 Knockout Tour Rallies on 150CC – Similar to Grand Prix, it’s enough to complete each heat without aiming for top placements.
  • Complete a minimum of 40 P-Switch Missions while in Free Roam.
  • Collect at least 10 Peach Medallions during Free Roam.

When the aforementioned tasks are completed, you will need to play the Special Cup on 150cc. This cup becomes available after finishing all 7 Grand Prix, and again, winning isn’t a strict requirement—completion is key.

Successfully completing the Special Cup will trigger a secret scene where Mario and Luigi witness the world turn upside down, thus unlocking Mirror Mode for both VS Race and Grand Prix modes.

You don’t have to worry about collecting all costumes or characters; these are optional. Additionally, there’s no need to achieve three-star ratings in every race. Just focus on completing the required courses at your own pace, alleviating the pressure of perfection.

As an added tip, after unlocking Mirror Mode, navigate to Peach’s Castle in Free Roam. Driving into the stained glass window depicted in the cutscene will activate a mirrored version of the entire Free Roam environment.
