Upcoming Windows 11 Update to Introduce ‘Haptic Signals’ Feature

Microsoft is set to introduce a new “Haptic Signals”feature in Windows 11.
This enhancement will bring haptic feedback to compatible trackpads.
While the option is expected to be found in the “Mouse”settings, it is not yet available for use.

Microsoft is reportedly developing an exciting new feature for Windows 11 that would enable haptic feedback in response to various system interactions. This feature is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience.

Recent preview builds of Windows 11 have revealed a hidden toggle labeled “Haptic Signals”. This option, which includes a description stating “Feel subtle vibrations when you snap windows, align objects, and more, ” offers users a slider to customize the intensity of the haptic feedback.

Designed primarily for haptic-enabled trackpads such as those found on the Surface Laptop Studio and Surface Laptop 7, this feature aims to enrich the user experience. For instance, as users drag files between windows or position two windows side by side, subtle vibrations will enhance the tactile sensation of their interactions.

It’s notable that Microsoft has been exploring haptic feedback capabilities for several years. The recent appearance of this setting indicates that much of the underlying technology is already integrated within Windows 11, even if the feature isn’t fully operational yet.

This feature was first discovered by PhantomOfEarth on X, as reported by Windows Central. The observation was made in build 26220.7070 (KB5070300) for Windows 11 25H2 within both the Dev and Beta Channels. Currently, there are no ViveTool codes to enable this feature manually.

How to Enable Haptic Signals in Windows 11

Once this feature becomes available, users can enable it by navigating to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse. Here, you will find an option to toggle on “Haptic signals” alongside a slider to adjust the “Signal intensity.”
