Using GeForce Now on Steam Deck just got a lot easier thanks to new update

Nvidia has recently introduced a beta installation method, which simplifies the process of streaming GeForce Now games on Steam Deck.

There is a wide selection of Steam Deck-compatible games that can be found on Valve’s handheld. However, if you wish to broaden your gaming options, you have the option to install the Epic Games Store, Xbox Game Pass, and Nvidia GeForce Now on your Steam Deck.

GeForce Now offers the opportunity to play a variety of games, such as Fortnite, and allows for high-quality streaming of titles with an RTX 4080-equipped gaming PC. This means you can play games at 4K resolutions and a smooth 120FPS, as long as you have sufficient bandwidth and a membership.

Despite the convoluted setup process to get it running on Valve’s portable powerhouse, there is one downside to this. Fortunately, Nvidia has recently released a brand new update, making it a lot easier to stream GeForce Now games on the Steam Deck.

“According to a press release from Nvidia, they are introducing a new beta installation process for streaming GeForce NOW on the Steam Deck, making it even more convenient to use across various devices.”

The latest beta installation process is now available for direct download from the Nvidia website. This new update eliminates the need for manually configuring GeForce Now and Google Chrome and inputting the required text in the app’s launch options.

Rather, Nvidia’s latest installation script will automatically set up Chrome on your Steam Deck, complete with all the necessary backend configurations for seamlessly using GeForce Now.

In addition, Steam Deck users have the option to use their gamepad to stream GeForce Now games directly from a web browser. This feature can be particularly useful when storage space on the Steam Deck is limited. As long as a web browser is installed, launching GeForce Now can easily be done from the Nvidia website by clicking on the link provided here.

With this new installation method, playing GeForce Now games on Steam Deck has become incredibly easy. The selection of games on the GeForce Now library is also growing, with new options such as Little Kitty Big City and Honkai Star Rail. Keep in mind that in order to fully utilize the service, it is recommended to have fast Wi-Fi speeds, making it particularly suitable for Steam Deck OLED users who can take advantage of the enhanced Wi-Fi 6E capabilities.
