<p>Significant updates are on the horizon for Valorant with Patch 9.08 and 9.10, particularly concerning the Sunset map and adjustments to weapon balance.
In a new developer update video released by Riot Games, players can glean what changes await Valorant in 2024. While the video heavily focused on the company’s commitment to implementing stricter penalties for cheaters, it also highlighted important gameplay and map modifications.
The upcoming gameplay adjustments will facilitate easier recoil control, especially when players increase their fire rate using specific abilities, such as Brimstone’s Stim and Reyna’s Ultimate. Additionally, the Ares weapon will receive enhancements to “boost its competitiveness among mid-range price point firearms.”
Once Patch 9.08 is live, players will notice some changes to the Sunset map. The developer video showcased modifications to B-Site aimed at enhancing its defensibility and eliminating the “unbreakable Cypher tripwire position.”
Changes to B-Main will significantly impact post-plant strategies. Players will no longer be able to use the large box for cover during post-plant situations, which may also limit the attacking team’s ability to hide there while preparing to push onto the site.
In the mid section of Sunset, Riot will remove the oversized tree in the corner, replacing it with a box to assist defenders. No updates have been announced for A-Site at this time.
The majority of the video further discussed updates on Riot’s anti-cheat initiatives. It detailed the company’s pledge to enforce more robust and immediate penalties for severe infractions, including hardware bans that would prevent disruptive players from accessing Valorant on any console or PC.
Looking ahead to Patch 9.10, changes for both Cypher, the strongest Sentinel, and Phoenix, currently the weakest Duelist, have been indicated. Additionally, updates are also in store for Agents like Sage and Gekko.
