Vanilla Destiny 2 Exotic Becomes Meta with Episode Revenant Buffs

One of the original Exotics from Destiny 2 is receiving a significant buff with the launch of Episode Revenant on October 8, aligning perfectly with the seasonal artifact’s focus on Grenade Launchers.

During a livestream on October 1 that showcased new content for Revenant Act 1, Bungie announced that Fighting Lion, currently the sole primary ammo Grenade Launcher in the game, will soon be complemented by another Exotic Grenade Launcher featuring an unnamed Stasis variant.

In the demonstration of the new Stasis Grenade Launcher, the developers provided insights into upcoming adjustments for Fighting Lion, including the confirmation that, post-update, it will “make enemies Volatile upon impact.”

It remains unclear whether this effect will be similar to the Destabilizing Rounds perk (which causes nearby targets to become volatile on final blows) as a standalone improvement or if it will activate solely on direct hits. Regardless, this enhancement will significantly benefit Void builds, no matter how it is implemented.

As it stands, Graviton Lance and Choir of One are among the most powerful Exotics in Destiny 2, thanks to their ability to inflict Volatile effects or equivalent damage. Thus, following the buff, it’s likely that Fighting Lion will join this elite group.

Alongside this exciting power boost, the Revenant seasonal artifact introduces several mods that enhance the entire Grenade Launcher archetype’s efficacy. Notably, the Rapid Impacts mod provides a temporary increase in reload speed after dealing damage with Grenade Launchers.

When combined with Fighting Lion’s Thin the Herd perk, which allows for faster reloads after dealing damage and magazine replenishment from rapid final blows, the single-shot launcher will reload at lightning speed.

However, there’s a potential downside: Bungie may choose not to let these perks stack. Nonetheless, based on past interactions between mods and perks, it is expected that this synergy will be effective.
