Warner Bros. Games is once again venturing into the live service arena, this time leveraging the rich universe of DC Comics.
The studio has experienced a challenging journey in this genre, marked by the disappointing launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the diminishing popularity of Multiversus. Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros.remains undeterred.
Past releases such as Gotham Knights failed to resonate with audiences, and the lackluster reception of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League resulted in significant layoffs at Rocksteady Studios. Although Multiversus generated initial excitement, maintaining a steady player base post-launch proved challenging. Yet, Warner Bros.is actively recruiting for a new live service project.
Upcoming Live Service Game from Warner Bros.
A recent job listing has confirmed that Warner Bros.is in the development stages of a new AAA title based on one of its iconic DC or Warner Bros.intellectual properties. The listing seeks an Executive Producer tasked with “leading the development of a high-quality AAA game” from the extensive Warner Bros.and DC Comics catalog. This indicates that the project is likely in its early to mid-development stages, as the Executive Producer plays a crucial role in pre-production.

The listing underscores that this will be another live service game, specifically looking for someone to “oversee post-launch content and live service strategy, ensuring ongoing player engagement.”
While no specific franchise is mentioned, the AAA scope and the emphasis on live service suggest that Warner Bros.is targeting another significant release centered around a prominent character or universe.
The job description opens the door for speculation. With Rocksteady already associated with the upcoming Batman project, it seems unlikely that the new title will feature the Dark Knight. However, considering Superman’s revival in the cinematic landscape, now could be the perfect time for a live service title focused on the Man of Steel.
Whatever the eventual intellectual property may be, it is evident that Warner Bros.is intensifying its commitment to live service titles—regardless of player reactions.
