Black Ops Royale has officially launched in Warzone, but early player feedback indicates a strong desire for significant adjustments to enhance gameplay, particularly to address concerns about its pace and engagement levels.
Initially teased in September 2025, this Blackout-inspired mode was introduced as part of Season 2 Reloaded. While it captures the essence of Warzone, it strips away key elements such as the Gulag and custom loadouts, opting instead for a more traditional battle royale experience.
The game utilizes Avalon, a vast map featured in Black Ops 7’s Endgame mode, in place of the familiar Verdansk. Although players have largely praised Avalon for its aesthetics and layout, many feel that its size contributes to one of the mode’s primary issues—lack of action.
Calls for Expanded Lobbies in Black Ops Royale
Since its release, players have voiced concerns that Black Ops Royale feels too slow-paced, attributing this to the expansive map combined with a limited player count. This has resulted in prolonged periods of inactivity, detracting from the excitement typical of battle royale games.
One player on X remarked, “It needs more players; there’s a lot of running around and not enough gunfights.” Similarly, another user expressed frustration, noting, “100 players isn’t sufficient for this map. I spent most of my time driving around searching for a fight, only to encounter bots.”
In response to these concerns, gamers and streamers are advocating for an increase in player count to 150, aiming to foster a more thrilling and engaging competition.
Basically every person I’ve seen says the same thing – Black Ops Royale / Blackout 2.0 needs more players on the map.100 just isn’t enough for Avalon.pic.twitter.com/tAuBHiYfSE

Another player added, “Blackout needs 150 players; there’s just too much downtime, and it gets boring.” Popular streamer Modern Warzone echoed this sentiment, stating, “100 isn’t enough for Avalon, ” with fellow streamer Swagg agreeing that “150 is a must.”
Currently, developers have not publicly addressed whether the slower gameplay was a deliberate decision or if they are open to increasing the player count. While raising the number of players can complicate matchmaking, they have confirmed the introduction of bots in certain areas.
Historically, Raven has made adjustments to player count based on feedback, so should these complaints persist, there’s a possibility we might see a future update allowing for 150 participants on Avalon.
