Warzone Introduces Iron Trials Successor with Ranked Resurgence Mode

Raven Software is set to reinvigorate the competitive landscape of Warzone in Season 2 with the return of Ranked Play, alongside an exciting new mode. This update is scheduled to launch on February 5, coinciding with the anticipated BO7 Ranked Play.

Significant Changes to Warzone’s Competitive Modes in Season 2

After the removal of Warzone Ranked Play following the Black Ops 7 launch in November, Raven Software has been working diligently to enhance the competitive experience for players by introducing new weapons and gameplay mechanics. The latest announcement about Season 2 includes the reintroduction of Ranked Play: Resurgence, although the specific map for this mode has yet to be disclosed.

In previous iterations, the Resurgence mode primarily utilized Rebirth Island, but with the newly added Haven’s Hollow in Season 1, it raises the possibility that the mode could feature the new map or potentially shift between both locations.

Perhaps the most exciting revelation from this update is the introduction of a new mode called Iron Gauntlet, which will also be available shortly after the Season 2 launch. Iron Gauntlet aims to present a revamped version of the popular Iron Trials mode from the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard eras. This mode is designed to elevate the challenge by increasing player health and eliminating loadout drops, thereby emphasizing skill over chance.

Described as “a large map, Battle Royale experience, ”Iron Gauntlet is likely to take place on the iconic Verdansk map, incorporating its own distinct rules regarding health, loadouts, and available loot.

It is important to note that these two competitive modes, Iron Gauntlet and Ranked Resurgence, will not run simultaneously. Instead, they will be rotated on a regular basis. Whenever one mode is active, the other will be temporarily deactivated. However, specific details on the rotation frequency remain unspecified.

This strategic decision is aimed at fostering a more robust competitive community, enhancing matchmaking efficiency, and stimulating high-stakes gameplay moments. Additionally, it will provide developers with valuable feedback on each mode’s performance.
