In an endeavor to tackle persistent issues plaguing its battle royale mode, Warzone Season 2 has prioritized gameplay fixes over new content. However, both players and prominent streamers are voicing concerns that more significant changes may be required to rectify the ongoing problems.
While the multiplayer component of Black Ops 6, along with its Zombies mode, has received positive feedback, Warzone’s reception has been less favorable. The game has been marred by rampant cheating and various gameplay issues, including sluggish movement and numerous bugs, which have led some players to temporarily disengage.
The developers aimed to implement improvements with the Season 2 update, which, aside from introducing a few new weapons, essentially focused on “gameplay tuning, quality of life enhancements, and bug fixes.” Unfortunately, early feedback suggests that many of these issues, along with some unresolved concerns, continue to affect the player experience.
Streamers Critique Warzone’s Current Condition
Jack ‘CouRageJD’ Dunlop, a renowned streamer known for his Fortnite content and former Call of Duty League commentator, expressed his disappointment on social media, labeling the current state of Warzone as “sad.” He attributed this downtrend to “greed” and the presence of “too many egos” within the development team.
CouRageJD advocated for a complete overhaul of the game, suggesting that it should revert to its original launch state. He stated: “Pull the plug. Reset from Warzone 1.0 and let it be its own standalone experience. Only additive updates. No [yearly] resets that gut the game. MW19 engine is still by far the best. Full court press on hackers. Lawsuits on every cheat website. As deep of an anti-cheat as Riot’s Vanguard.”
It’s so sad to see the state of Warzone. Cal of Duty is one of the mismanaged IPs on the planet. Too many cooks in the kitchen. Too many egos. Too much greed from Activision. Pull the plug. Reset from Warzone 1.0 and let it be it’s own standalone experience. Only additive…

CouRageJD’s sentiments were echoed by other streamers who shared their dismay. ModernWarzone commented, “So sad to look at the state of the game and community these days. Makes me not even want to log on.” Meanwhile, HusKerrs warned, “Has to be done soon or it’ll be too late (if it isn’t already).Same exact thing happened with H1Z1.”
Speros also expressed his agreement, stating, “The compartmentalization over there and lack of willingness to work together towards a common vision has completely killed the game.” Adding to the criticism, JGOD released a video entitled “It might actually be over, ” in which he scrutinized both old and new issues affecting gameplay. Among these were problems with the Mountaineer Perk, Utility Boxes being deployed during final circles, and the ongoing presence of hackers ruining gameplay.
JGOD voiced his frustration with the fact that players might be forced to wait an additional 50 days for the next significant update, calling this situation “unacceptable.”
Looking ahead, the highly anticipated Season 3 is scheduled to bring the return of Verdansk, which fans hope will rejuvenate Warzone. However, numerous issues must be resolved before developers can effectively regain player trust and engagement.
