As Wednesday ominously stated, “This story is about to take a dark turn, ” and it truly does. However, it’s safe to assert that she is not dead by the end of Season 2 Part 1, despite the show’s best efforts to create doubt.

It is clear that Wednesday is in a dire state. Earlier in the episode, she assembles a team, including Uncle Fester, Thing, Enid, and Agnes, to infiltrate Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility in search of Lois, a purported outcast serial killer.

Their intention is to thwart her before she can strike at Enid, but the discovery of a larger conspiracy ensues. Amidst this chaos, Marilyn Thornhill enacts her revenge by releasing Tyler, who transforms into a Hyde and violently confronts Wednesday by throwing her from a window.

When the authorities finally arrive at Willow Hill, chaos reigns as paramedics are summoned. As Wednesday lies unconscious on the floor, Thing desperately attempts to revive her.

In the series’ closing moments, Wednesday’s voiceover reverberates, “I’ve always dreamed of looking death in the face. But in my final moments, all I hear is my mother’s words ringing in my ears: Maybe I have made everything worse. Much worse.”

Before you panic, it’s important to note that a major Netflix series would not eliminate its protagonist without forewarning. Additionally, with a renewal for Season 3, fans can anticipate more of Wednesday’s signature wit in the future.

In a significant twist, Season 2 Episode 4 reveals that Lois is not a single entity; rather, it signifies the “Long-term Outcast Integration Study” (LOIS).This unethical program was conducted by normies who used various outcasts as subjects for cruel experiments.

The survivors believed to be deceased were actually still alive, their deaths staged to evade detection by their families. Augustus Stonehurst, a former Nevermore professor, was the architect behind this project, aiming to siphon the powers of outcasts to benefit normies. As Wednesday aptly puts it, “This is a basement bargain attempt at Dr. Moreau.”

Despite the adverse effects of his experiments, Stonehurst succeeded in enhancing his normie daughter, Judi, with powers allowing her to control birds, which she uses malevolently. During the climax, Judi commands her ravens to kill Donovan Galpin and his investigator Carl Bradbury, both close to uncovering the LOIS project’s truth.

In a thrilling turn of events, Uncle Fester disrupts the facility’s operations, allowing the outcast prisoners, including Tyler, to escape and seek revenge on Judi, though she manages to flee.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Wednesday’s fate, Season 2 Part 1 features multiple character deaths—five in total: Carl Bradbury, Donovan Galpin, Marilyn Thornhill, Dr. Rachael Fairburn, and Augustus Stonehurst.

The series introduces brutality early on, starting with Bradbury, who faces a gruesome end at the talons of Judi’s crows, followed closely by the demise of Donovan in a similar manner.

The remaining deaths occur during the Part 1 finale following the escape of LOIS prisoners, featuring a particularly ravenous zombie who consumes Fairburn and subsequently targets Stonehurst, the orchestrator of his suffering.

Before this chaos, Tyler, having transformed into Hyde, brutally kills Thornhill, avenging his manipulation as her outcast hunter with a fatal stab.

Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 is currently available for streaming on Netflix, with Part 2 set to release on September 3. Stay tuned for Jenna Ortega’s insights regarding Percy Hynes White’s exit and teasers about upcoming TV shows hitting streaming platforms this month.
