The Sun Brothers, a mafia action comedy series, turns out to be a real gem from Netflix. What is the series about? Who is in the cast? We tell you everything we know about a new product that’s worth a look.
After the phenomenal success of Everything Everywhere All At Once, Michelle Yeoh makes a sensational return in a series that gives pride of place to Asian communities in the United States.
With a solid but also very large cast, a thrilling and deliberately absurd plot at times, Les Frères Sun takes its spectators to the heart of conspiracies and mysteries. Fights, jokes, more fights and a story of families in the plural: this is what awaits you when you launch the series signed Brad Falchuk, Byron Wu and Amy Wang.
What is The Sun Brothers about?
On Netflix, the series is presented with this summary: “A family emergency sends a ruthless killer from Taipei to Los Angeles. Bruce, broke, accepts a new job. When everything goes wrong, two brothers meet again.”
The merciless killer is Charles “Chairleg” Sun (Justin Chien). He is the eldest of the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad. As for Bruce (Sam Song Li), he is the youngest: after growing up carefree in the United States, he will have to face reality and make a choice for his future, between his father’s empire and the American dream.
According to showrunner Brad Falchuk for NetflixTudum, the series “explores what it means to be a son, what it means to be a brother, and also what it means to try to keep a family together. We’re doing an extreme version of it because it’s a crime family and there are people shooting at them and trying to kill them. But the conflicts they have – the problems within the family circle, the emotional problems – are very, very universal.”

“What I love about Michelle [Yeoh] is the respect she got from her two sons on the show, but also from the cast,” Wu continued. “Of course [ I loved] everything she did for the character, but for me, I think the most amazing thing was seeing her educate and guide all these young actors and help them to push themselves to excel. I will always be grateful to him.”
