Where to Find Civilization 7 Save File Location on PC

Fans of strategy gaming can now dive into Civilization 7, which has officially launched on PC and consoles for those who pre-ordered the Deluxe or Founders Edition. While the initial reception has been a mix of praise and criticism, players and reviewers have expressed concerns regarding user interface (UI) challenges, balance issues, and overall game quality.

Despite these critiques, the PC version generally performs well. However, it does miss some standard features one might expect from a Firaxis title, most notably the absence of Steam Cloud support. This means that players will need to manually manage their local save files.

Open Windows Search, type “Controlled folder access, ” and select the result.
Click on “Allow an app through Controlled folder access” under the Controlled folder access section.

Select the Add an allowed app button.
Find and select the executable for Civilization 7 (Civ7_Win64_DX12_FinalRelease.exe) located here:

If you can’t find it, check the “Block history” section as it may appear there.

Steam Cloud Support for Civilization 7

Currently, Civilization 7 does not support Steam Cloud. However, there is a possibility that this feature will be added after the early access phase concludes in the coming days. Until then, players must log into their 2K account to use cloud saves. Ensure you save your progress with crossplay enabled to access it across different platforms.

A 2K account is also beneficial for players as it facilitates crossplay and cross-progression among various platforms. While crossplay is supported on all platforms, please note that the Switch is restricted to multiplayer games on Tiny or Small maps. Fortunately, Civilization 7 also offers offline play, which does not require a constant internet connection or the 2K account if you prefer to forgo its extra features.
