Why Gojo Didn’t Use His Domain Against Miguel in Jujutsu Kaisen, Explained

The fight between Satoru Gojo and Miguel in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel movie was undoubtedly one of the most unforgettable moments. Despite its short duration, it remains one of the most exceptional hand-to-hand combat scenes in the entire series.

One of the most notable aspects for fans was that Miguel not only achieved his goal of delaying Gojo, but he also survived the brutal beating inflicted by his opponent.

As fans reflect on this remarkable fight, a common question arises: Why did Gojo choose not to use his Domain against Miguel if his intention was to end the fight quickly?

Despite the outcome of their battle being clear, Miguel’s performance in his fight against Satoru Gojo earned him high praise in the recent chapters of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. It is not often that characters are recognized for going head-to-head with Satoru Gojo, making Miguel’s accomplishment all the more impressive.

In fact, Gojo himself commended Miguel’s toughness and physical abilities, stating that the latter’s physique alone poses a greater danger than most of the Jujutsu sorcerers.

Despite the greatness of their battle, there are still fans who question why Gojo solely relied on his hand-to-hand combat abilities and did not utilize his other techniques such as Red, Blue, or even his Domain Expansion. Considering Gojo’s vast capabilities and extensive knowledge of Cursed techniques, it is certain that he could have ended his fight with Miguel much sooner.

Despite some seeking a profound explanation, the true reason for Gojo not utilizing his Domain against Miguel is rather straightforward: Domains were not yet a concept when Gege Akutami wrote Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Akutami began the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manga, which was later adapted into a movie following the first season of the anime. As the events of the prequel occurred a year prior to the main series, it was logical for Gojo to single-handedly defeat the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons using the impressive abilities he displayed in season one of the anime.

Despite this, it seems that Akutami had not considered integrating Domains into the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, leading Gojo to solely rely on his fighting abilities during that time.

It is possible that Gojo did not see the need to use his Unlimited Void against someone like Miguel. As we have observed, Gojo only employs his Unlimited Void Domain Expansion as a last resort, as demonstrated in his previous encounter with Jogo in season one and in the Shibuya arc when facing off against the Special Grade Cursed Spirits.

Despite Miguel’s impressive abilities, it could be argued that Gojo’s utilization of Cursed Technique Reversal: Red or Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue was excessive. However, once Gojo became fully engaged in the fight, it was evident that Miguel’s defeat was inevitable.

Despite being constantly bombarded with strikes from Gojo, Miguel’s ability to emerge relatively unscathed is a significant accomplishment and a testament to his skill as a sorcerer.
