Why My Hero Academia should end with Deku being Quirkless, explained

Despite starting out as a Quirkless boy who was constantly bullied by Bakugo, Deku has made significant progress in the My Hero Academia series. He has become the world’s most powerful Hero and, with the support of his friends, was able to defeat All For One.

Despite his victory over the Demon Lord, Deku ultimately had to make a significant sacrifice, as he appeared to lose his Quirk during their epic showdown.

Despite voluntarily relinquishing One For All in a previous chapter to protect Tomura Shigaraki, it remains uncertain whether Deku will regain his Quirks after defeating All For One in My Hero Academia chapter 423. Nonetheless, for the narrative to come full circle, it is possible that Deku will ultimately benefit from not having his Quirks by the conclusion of the series.

Despite living in a world where heroes and Quirks were the norm, Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, began the series as a Quirkless boy. He faced constant rejection and bullying from both society and his friends.

Luckily, his fortune changed when he encountered his childhood idol, All Might, who bestowed upon him the One For All Quirk. This allowed Deku to unlock the abilities of all the past users of One For All, ultimately leading him to become more powerful and surpass all other Heroes, including All Might.

To Deku, One For All was a precious gift bestowed upon him by his childhood hero. Therefore, the choice to relinquish the Quirk was particularly agonizing and heart-wrenching. However, he had no second thoughts when he fully transferred One For All to Tomura Shigaraki’s body, knowing that it would weaken him from within with the combined powers of the previous users.

As a result, Deku sacrificed his Quirk to rescue Shigaraki and successfully rid himself of all his hatred. In chapter 423 of the My Hero Academia manga, Deku and Shigaraki collaborated to transfer the remaining power of One For All to Shigaraki’s body, ultimately bringing an end to the newly-formed All For One.

This chapter seemingly indicated that Deku had lost his Quirk completely, as One For All may have been destroyed by All For One. As a result, Deku could potentially be returning to his origins as a Quirkless individual in a society filled with Quirks and Heroes.

Despite this, there have been significant changes this time. Firstly, Deku has gained global recognition as one of the greatest heroes in the world, particularly after his epic clash with Shigaraki and All For One. His unwavering determination to defend the world inspired everyone who witnessed the battle, leading them to root for his success.

Therefore, if Deku were to lose his Quirk once more by the conclusion of the My Hero Academia series, he would be hailed as a hero instead of being ostracized by society. He would gain worldwide recognition for standing up to All For One and ultimately putting an end to the villain’s tyrannical rule.

Additionally, it would be fitting for Deku to revisit his origins as a Quirkless individual in terms of the narrative, as he was consistently portrayed as the ultimate inheritor of One For All.

In My Hero Academia chapter 423, Deku successfully completed One For All the right way by defeating All For One with the aid of all the previous wielders and Tomura Shigaraki himself. Therefore, it would be illogical for the Quirk to continue existing after fulfilling its purpose of defeating All For One.

One could argue that, after defeating All For One and saving Shigaraki’s soul, Deku has fulfilled his role with the One For All Quirk and achieved everything he set out to do. Therefore, it can be said that he no longer needs the quirk.

As a result, Deku has undoubtedly proven himself deserving of a return to a normal life alongside his loved ones. This time, he no longer relies on a Quirk to gain acceptance from those around him. Like All Might, Deku can continue to play a crucial role in the Hero society, even without a Quirk.

It is possible that he would make an excellent mentor for the future generation of heroes. This is due to the fact that he will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the world’s most renowned and esteemed heroes.

Therefore, it can be inferred that it would be fitting for My Hero Academia to end with Deku remaining Quirkless. This would complete his journey, as he would transition from a boy rejected by society for lacking a Quirk to a revered Hero who willingly sacrifices his powers to save even just one more life.
