While dining at a restaurant in Spain, a Below Deck fan was convinced they spotted Captain Sandy Yawn and Captain Glenn Shephard, only to realize that they were actually lookalikes.
The Bravo network has been airing the Below Deck franchise since 2013, and its cast members have gained fame from appearing in each of its spinoffs.
Attendees have the chance to interact with the crew members at events such as BravoCon, as well as watch parties organized by the stars.
On June 15, a fan disclosed on her Instagram story that she believed she spotted Captain Glenn Shephard from Below Deck Sailing Yacht with Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean at a restaurant in Marbella, Spain.
“The woman shared that she had an amazing time at @elanclamarbella and was ecstatic when she believed she saw @capt_glennshephard and @captainsandrayawn from @belowdeckbravo browsing in the boutique.”
“The Below Deck fan added, with a picture of two random people who resembled the captains, that although they initially appeared lovely, upon closer inspection, it became clear that they were not the individuals we had thought they were.”
Captain Glenn reposted a screenshot of the story that day and added the caption, “OMG that is too funny,”tagging both the fan and Captain Sandy.
After joking about the mixup, he immediately posted another Instagram photo, this time including a selfie with Captain Sandy.
“In his caption, Captain Glenn dedicated the post to @radiohannah, as it was taken during last December’s @celebritycruises Ascent with @captainsandrayawn. He emphasized that the post is the genuine deal and not about look-alikes.”
Despite not responding to the Below Deck fan who found her lookalike in Spain, Captain Sandy will probably have a similar response when it comes to Captain Glenn.
While fans may be thrilled to spot their beloved Below Deck personalities such as Captain Glenn and Captain Sandy in real life, it would be wise for them to think twice before becoming too excited about the prospect of a potential celebrity sighting.
