While there aren’t as many options as in Retail WoW, you might be unsure about what to play in Vanilla WoW, especially since racial abilities and class skills have changed throughout the expansions. Here’s a list of all race and class combinations in WoW Classic Season of Discovery and Hardcore.
All Class and Race Combos for World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery
Unlike modern WoW, Classic limits you to four race options in each faction. However, no race has more than six class options, and most have only five choices.
You’ll notice that some classes are faction-specific. You can only play a Paladin as a member of the Alliance, and you can only be a Shaman on the Horde. It wasn’t until Burning Crusade that this changed, with Blood Elves bringing Paladin to the Horde and Draenei bringing Shaman to the Alliance.
While there aren’t as many classes as you might be used to, I don’t feel that the list is particularly lacking, and there’s certainly something for each playstyle here. There are still multiple options for each role, too, so you can find what suits you the best.
