Streaming sensation Felix “xQc”Lengyel recently provided exciting insights regarding the anticipated launch of the KICK application on gaming consoles, a development eagerly awaited by fans wishing to enjoy their favorite streamers on larger screens.
Since its debut in early 2023, KICK has positioned itself as a formidable competitor to Twitch. Backed by Stake, the platform has aggressively attracted high-profile streamers with lucrative contracts. While KICK shares some similarities with YouTube in its approach, it has incorporated several features reminiscent of Twitch, thus appealing to a wide audience.
Its chat functionality operates in a manner similar to Twitch’s, allowing for interactive viewer engagement. Additionally, KICK offers highlight clips and a navigable directory that enhances user experience. However, despite these advancements, KICK has yet to introduce essential features that its competitors have long offered, including a dedicated console application and compatibility with Chromecast.
xQc’s Response on KICK’s Future Features
During a January 8 livestream, a viewer inquired about the availability of Chromecast on KICK, suggesting that the absence of such features could be detrimental to the platform. In response, xQc defended KICK’s progress, asserting, “Brother be nice man. Bro KICK is doing fantastic.”He went on to clarify that a console port is indeed on the horizon, urging viewers to remain patient and optimistic: “The f*ckin, the thin, bro bro bro. Bro the port on console is coming, you need to f*ckin lock in. Jesus Christ, this guy man.”
KICK has been planning several enhancements beyond just the console app. Recently, streamer Adin Ross hinted that a “KICK Cash”system may be introduced, allowing viewers to earn rewards simply for watching their favorite channels. “Basically, viewers can get paid to watch you. They’re coming out with some cool s*it. It’s kind of like Bits that you can cash out,” Ross explained.
As of now, specific timelines for these upcoming features remain unclear, as neither the console app nor the KICK Cash system has a defined launch date. The ongoing developments reflect KICK’s commitment to enhancing user experience and maintaining its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving streaming landscape.
