xQc slams “empty” Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Famous internet personality Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel was tuning in to the Nintendo presentation for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom when he strongly criticized the game, calling it “completely empty” and elaborating on why he didn’t enjoy its design.

At the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, the renowned company revealed a diverse range of highly anticipated games to commemorate what could potentially be the final year for the Switch before it is succeeded by its successor.

One game in the franchise that stands out is The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which marks the first time Princess Zelda takes on the role of the protagonist in an official title.

During the live broadcast on Kick, internet sensation xQc shared his thoughts on the upcoming Zelda title.

Upon viewing Nintendo’s clip of the game and seeing the landscape, he immediately commented, “This looks completely devoid of any content, are you serious?”

Despite his initial praise for the game’s new “echoes”system, xQc revealed that he was not a fan of the design style when his chat started discussing it. He continued to watch and comment on the game, but made it clear that the design was not to his liking.

“[The design] doesn’t really grow on you,”he stated. “It may seem cozy at first, but after playing through the entire game…whew.”

Echoes of Wisdom employs the identical chibi-style design as Nintendo’s 2019 remastered version of Link’s Awakening, which captured the hearts of numerous players.

The upcoming Zelda game will take place in Hyrule, so it is highly probable that players will encounter many familiar buildings and fields from the franchise when the game is released in September 2024.

xQc’s reaction to the Nintendo Direct wasn’t limited to just one game. The highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was also revealed, causing the streamer to become extremely excited.

The game will not be released until sometime in 2025, so we will have to wait for future updates to see more of it.
