Yaiba anime by WIT Studio confirmed with PV

On September 4, 2024, the official staff concluded their countdown by releasing a teaser promotional video for the Yaiba anime. The short clip revealed that WIT Studio will be handling the production of the anime. Additionally, the main cast and staff for the series were announced. A key visual showcasing the main character was also unveiled.

The Yaiba anime is based on Gosho Aoyama’s famous manga series of the same name. The manga was originally serialized by Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1988 to 1993 and was later compiled into 24 tankobon volumes. The upcoming anime will be the second adaptation, following the original 52-episode series that aired in Japan from 1993 to 1994.

Upcoming Anime Yaiba Reveals Cast, Staff, Production Studio, and Unveils PV and Visual

On Wednesday, September 1, 2024, the Yaiba anime’s official website and X (formerly Twitter) account released the first promotional video, unveiling production details for the highly anticipated anime. The short clip revealed that Wit Studio, renowned for its successful titles such as Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song- and Attack on Titan (season 1-3), will be producing the TV anime.

The PV effectively showcases the main characters from the Yaiba anime in modern animation quality. It features the titular hero in action, skillfully wielding his blade and making a bold announcement. Despite its brief duration of only 30 seconds, the PV demonstrates WIT Studio’s impressive animation skills.

Simultaneously, the PV offers a glimpse into the character voices of Yaiba Kurogane, Sayaka Mine, and Takeshi Onimaru. The anime features Minami Takayama reprising her role as the protagonist, with Manaka Iwami voicing Sayaka Mine and Yoshimasa Hosoya taking on the role of Takeshi Onimaru in this Samurai-themed series.

The Yaiba anime’s official staff has revealed a key visual featuring the titular hero brandishing his blade. The artwork also showcases the anime’s official logo.

Takahiro Hasui is responsible for directing at WIT Studios, where he is known for his notable work on Mob Psycho 100 and My Hero Academia. Additionally, Toko Machida oversees the scripting process under his direction.

Yoshimichi Kameda is acknowledged for his role as the character designer and chief animation director, while Takeshi Maenami serves as the sub-character designer and main animator. The music is composed by Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa, with Haru Yamada as the sound director. Maiko Okada has been brought on board as the producer of this anime.

The anime’s production team has shared their comments on the official website, discussing their thoughts on the adaptation. Hasui-san is confident in the talented staff that has been brought together to work on the series and encourages fans to anticipate its release. Similarly, Kameda-san expresses their gratitude in being a part of the franchise.

According to the creator of Detective Conan, Gosho Aoyama, the anime centers around the Samurai named Yaiba Kurogane, who comes back to Japan after undergoing extensive training with his father in the jungle. Along the way, he confronts his rival Takeshi Onimaru and the two engage in a fierce battle. The Samurai’s journey takes an exciting turn when his opponent obtains the powerful Demon Blade.
