With multiple new spinoffs of Yellowstone in the works, the fact that one cast member is committed to another show suggests that the fate of the Duttons is far from certain.
Despite the upcoming conclusion of Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, this will not be the end of the Dutton family and their ranch. Taylor Sheridan has been diligently working to ensure that his iconic Western franchise continues to thrive.
Once the main series concludes (without Kevin Costner as the main character), there are at least three spinoffs in the works: 1944, The Madison, and 6666. There is also speculation about a possible spinoff focused on Beth and Rip, after actor Cole Hauser teased that there is more to explore for their characters.
It is yet to be determined whether Beth and Rip will continue their story in a separate show or become part of The Madison’s cast. However, Kelly Reilly, who portrays Beth, has already committed to a different project unrelated to the ranch drama. These developments hint that Beth’s involvement in Yellowstone’s future may be more limited than previously anticipated.
In August 2024, Reilly’s casting in Under Salt Marsh, a crime thriller with Sky, was officially announced. She will portray Jackie, a teacher and former detective who uncovers the body of one of her students.
As details of a years-old cold case start to emerge, Jackie’s former colleague Eric is called back to the small town in Wales to assist in revealing hidden truths within the community.
While the series certainly seems thrilling and is sure to captivate die-hard fans of true crime and thrillers, it also raises the question of whether Reilly will continue to be involved in the upcoming spinoffs of Yellowstone.
The filming for Under Salt Marsh is set to begin in the latter half of 2024. At the same time, The Madison is currently in development, with Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 scheduled to air in November of that year.
Despite rumors circulating, there is no confirmation of the Yellowstone cast appearing in the upcoming spinoff (previously known as Yellowstone 2024). However, it is expected that Reilly will return to play the role of Beth.
Despite the potential for a Beth and Rip spinoff, Reilly’s involvement in Under Salt Marsh would prevent her from working on any other Dutton-based shows involving her, at least for the time being.
This could suggest that Beth Dutton may only have a minimal role, if at all, in The Madison, or that production for both the spinoff and a potential Beth and Rip spinoff will not be happening anytime soon.
