Yona of the Dawn Manga Announces the Beginning of Its Final Arc

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the mangaka of Yona of the Dawn officially announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the manga would be entering its final arc. In the same post, the author and illustrator also shared the news of the manga winning an award in the Long Seller Comics Division for the Rakuten Kobo e-Book Award 2024.

Mizuho Kusanagi, the author and illustrator of The Yona of the Dawn manga, first published the series in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume shojo manga magazine in August 2009. The manga is still ongoing, with 252 out of 258 chapters currently released and compiled into 43 volumes as of this article’s writing. The 44th volume is scheduled for release in Japanese in June 2024, while the English version of the 43rd volume will be released in September 2024.

Yona of the Dawn Manga Confirmed in Final Arc

In addition to her Yona of the Dawn manga series, Kusanagi has established herself as the mastermind behind other popular works such as Yoiko no Kokoroe, Mugen Spiral, Game x Rush, and NG Life. In 2014, her Yona series was adapted into a 24-episode television anime series. This was later accompanied by three original anime DVDs in 2015 and 2016. Funimation has also released the English version of the anime on home video.

Viz Media has licensed the Yona of the Dawn manga for English release and describes the first volume as follows. Additionally, the series has been adapted into multiple stage plays, with the first premiering in March 2016, the second in Tokyo in November 2019, and the third in Tokyo one year later in November 2018. A fourth stage play, specified as a musical, is scheduled to run in Tokyo in July 2024.

At the time of writing this article, it remains uncertain if the anime will continue after the manga’s ending. For fans who are eager to see the series’ conclusion, it would be advisable to switch to the original manga.
