The Coopers are reuniting once again! Although George won’t be part of the Georgie & Mandy spinoff, another beloved character will also be absent from the Young Sheldon Thanksgiving reunion.
As we move closer to the debut of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, fans are eager to learn more about the series. Meanwhile, the stars and creators are already focused on Episode 5.
Episode 1 premieres on CBS on October 17, set shortly after the finale of Young Sheldon Season 7 and George’s passing. Just four episodes in, the spinoff will host its Thanksgiving special.
The highlight of this special? It will feature a reunion of the Young Sheldon cast.
Before Episode 5 airs, we know that Meemaw (Annie Potts) and Mary (Zoe Perry) will appear in Episode 1, while Missy (Raegan Revord) will make an appearance in Episode 2. Many fans were surprised to learn that the entire crew appears to be gathering… until now.
A recent TikTok shared by Potts showcases both the Coopers and the McAllisters gathered at Georgie and Jim’s home, with Meemaw’s boyfriend Dale joining the fun. However, there’s one key character missing… Sheldon.

This revelation may not be shocking, as Season 7 Episode 14 concluded with Sheldon arriving at CalTech for his next round of studies. Nonetheless, this doesn’t imply any rift with his family.
Although the finale of Young Sheldon formally transitioned Sheldon’s journey to The Big Bang Theory, he would likely still want to return home to visit his mom and siblings.
It remains unclear how Sheldon’s absence will be addressed, but actor Iain Armitage indicated he would feel “honored” to return to the set at any time.
In an interview with TV Line, he stated: “If I got a call to go back, that’d be so much fun. I’m also just excited to get to sit back on my couch with some popcorn and watch their show because they’re so good.
“But I could totally picture myself in the khakis again, sliding on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back out on the job.”
CBS has not yet officially announced an airdate for the Thanksgiving episode. However, if we anticipate that the Georgie & Mandy spinoff will run weekly, an approximate air date would be around mid-November.
