A professional surfer and YouTuber recently made waves—not in the ocean, but on the snowy slopes of Big Bear Mountain. Jacob “Zeke” Szekely, known for tackling some of the world’s most challenging surf spots, attempted to ride a surfboard on a halfpipe, an endeavor that led to a swift ejection from the resort.
Hailing from San Diego, Zeke has gained notoriety on both local and international surfing circuits, riding famed waves like the Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii and the intense “wedge wave” in Puerto Rico. His latest adventure took a different turn as he swapped the ocean for the snowy terrain of Big Bear.
Zeke’s Snowy Surf Adventure
In a YouTube video uploaded on February 4, Zeke began his snowy escapade on a snowboard but quickly opted for his surfboard to bring a unique twist to winter sports.“You think it’s gonna work?” he asked a friend, who humorously replied, “No.” Undeterred, Zeke strapped the surfboard around his waist with a long strap, attempting to navigate the slopes.
Wearing sneakers instead of ski boots, Zeke faced immediate challenges with traction as he launched down the hill. His initial attempts resulted in swift falls, but he persisted, even trying out tricks while lying on his stomach. However, his efforts were interrupted by resort staff who were alerted to his unconventional activity.

Zeke sneaked under a fence to continue surfing down the slopes.
Confrontations on the Mountain
The first staff member who approached Zeke humorously informed him, “We got a call, and unfortunately, it’s for you.”Another employee jokingly remarked, “We died laughing, dude, ” while enforcing the ban. However, Zeke wasn’t ready to end his thrill-seeking. When a third employee cautioned him as he prepared to hit a box feature on the slope, Zeke argued, “Are you serious? I’m right here. Do you see me?”
Despite the staff’s insistence on leaving, Zeke managed to sneak under a fence, seizing the moment to catch a few more runs. Once satisfied with his performance, he confidently declared in front of his camera crew that he would return for more tricks in the future, stating, “So we got shut down, we’re gonna come back though. We’re gonna hit big jumps, we’re gonna hit the halfpipe, and we’re gonna hit the boxes.”
Community Reaction and Future Plans
With a growing fanbase of 57K YouTube subscribers, Zeke’s snowy surfing antics garnered positive feedback, with many viewers urging him to create similar content. However, there remains uncertainty regarding when he might secure the necessary permissions to officially surf on the halfpipe at Big Bear Mountain.
This episode showcases the adventurous spirit that defines Zeke Szekely, as well as the growing trend of blending different sports for innovative experiences. Whether he manages to gain approval or not, one thing is certain: his followers are eager for more of his thrilling escapades.
