Yuji’s Potential Demise in Jujutsu Kaisen: Could Satoru Gojo Be the One to Defeat Him?

The recent release of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268 marked the end of the intense battle between the Sorcerers and Sukuna, resulting in Sukuna’s defeat by Yuji. In addition, it was revealed that Megumi, Nobara, and Yuji had all made a full recovery. However, the mysterious clues surrounding Yuta’s condition have sparked numerous theories and discussions among fans.

After possessing Gojo’s body, Yuta was last seen contemplating the impact of the multiple overlapping cursed techniques. Chapter 268 confirmed that Yuta managed to survive the ordeal, but some fans have speculated that this could result in Yuji’s demise, either at the hands of Yuta or Gojo.

Please note that the following article includes spoilers for the ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ series.

The journey of Jujutsu Kaisen commences with the passing of Yuji’s grandfather, inspiring him to dedicate his life to aiding and rescuing others, with the ultimate aspiration of being surrounded by cherished individuals at the end of his own life.

While this message has sparked theories about the conclusion of the story, many believe that Yuji will ultimately emerge as the sole survivor after his battle against Sukuna. However, this prediction has not yet materialized. Yuji and Sukuna are portrayed as opposites due to their shared lineage, conflicting personalities, and intense animosity towards each other.

Despite Yuji’s growth and newfound acceptance of Sukuna, he still remains intrinsically linked to Sukuna as a manifestation of him in the current era. Yuji’s willingness to give Sukuna another chance by absorbing him only serves as a reminder of this connection.

According to Kenjaku’s dialogue, the cycle of curses will continue as Sukuna and Yuji’s presence persists. Yuta’s ability to replicate Sukuna’s Dismantle technique by consuming one of Yuji’s fingers, as well as Yuji being compared to a cursed object like Sukuna, suggests that he too plays a similar role to Sukuna in the present era.

Considering their strong connection and Yuji’s determination to put an end to Sukuna’s curse and rule, it is likely that he will consume the final finger and accept his fate of being defeated by Yuta, who has taken over Gojo’s body. Yuji’s journey started with him waiting for his execution in a chamber filled with seals, while Gojo sat across from him.

Despite the possibility of a similar ending, this time Yuji finds himself surrounded by those he holds dear. This aligns with his grandfather’s words and his determination to eliminate Sukuna. While Gojo may not physically reappear, his influence will remain a prominent theme.

It has been observed by fans that the current tone of the story is overly pleasant and amiable, leading to speculation that Gege may be reserving a final plot twist for the conclusion.

Concluding Remarks

The release of chapter 269 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has been postponed until September 15, 2024 as the series is currently on a hiatus. As the manga will conclude at chapter 271, there is speculation that author Gege Akutami may introduce a surprising plot twist before potentially announcing a sequel.
