It was initially speculated that Yuji’s cursed technique was connected to Black Flash, given his natural ability to use it with ease and consistently hit his targets. However, it should be noted that while Black Flash is a technique accessible to all sorcerers, it can only be utilized by a select few. In other words, it is not considered a cursed technique.

In chapter 222, a few particular panels show Yuji and Atsuya Kusakabe appearing to have exchanged bodies. This led to the speculation that Yuji possesses the power to switch souls with another person, possibly as part of his cursed technique. It is assumed that he did this in order to become more proficient in hand-to-hand combat and gain a better understanding of his own body.

Despite chapter 257 negating and clarifying that Yuji’s first inherited cursed technique, “Blood Manipulation”, was from the Cursed Wombs, it has since been revealed that there is more to Yuji. In fact, it has been discovered that Yuji’s lineage is likely the reason for his second cursed technique, Shrine. Before delving into this further, it is important to note this fact.

The chapter uncovers the truth about Ryomen Sukuna’s twin brother, who was devoured by Sukuna while they were still in the womb due to Sukuna’s insatiable hunger. Somehow, Kenjaku managed to obtain the twin’s soul and reincarnated it as Jin Itadori, the father of Yuji. Through possessing Kaori Itadori’s body, Kenjaku was able to conceive Yuji with Jin, resulting in Yuji Itadori being born with the blood of both Sukuna and Kenjaku.

Progressing further, the storyteller discloses that the boy has inherited “Shrine”from Sukuna, giving Yuji a second cursed technique. He is observed using slashes reminiscent of Sukuna against the Demon King. However, the appearance, specifications, and details of this “Shrine”remain a mystery as it has just been introduced.

Despite Yuji’s recent awakening of his slashes and the unique nature of his “Shrine”, it is certain that they are weaker. This can be attributed to the fact that he hails from a different era and is a different individual. As it is well-known, a user’s Domain Expansion reflects their mental landscape, therefore it is expected that Yuji’s second cursed technique would differ from others.

Final Thoughts

The release of Yuji’s second cursed technique in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257 is a significant development. Typically, sorcerers can only awaken one cursed technique, making it incredibly uncommon for someone to have two. This sets Yuji apart from the rest of the Jujutsu Society.

Furthermore, Yuji’s possession of a “Shrine”as his second cursed technique, similar to Sukuna’s, places him among the highest-ranking sorcerers. This is not surprising, considering his lineage as the descendant of some of the most formidable sorcerers in history.
