Zoochosis Guide: All Endings, Achievements, and Essential Tips

Zoochosis is an engaging horror simulation game that allows you to step into the role of an unknowing zookeeper ensnared in a terrifying experience at Pine Valley Zoo. As you navigate this chilling environment, you’re responsible for caring for animals affected by a strange epidemic while uncovering multiple endings, which we delve into in our comprehensive Zoochosis guide.

Zoochosis Walkthrough – Hints & Strategies

  • Bodycam Settings – The game offers an immersive bodycam perspective by default, enhancing the horror experience. However, this may not suit players sensitive to motion sickness. If needed, you can disable the bodycam by accessing the ‘Options’ in the Start Menu and switching the ‘Bodycam’ setting to ‘Off’.
  • No Manual Save Feature – Zoochosis relies solely on auto-saving, so exercise caution when deciding to exit the game.
  • Engage with All Posters – During the prologue, take time to interact with various informational posters that provide vital instructions for different tasks, including animal feeding and conducting medical procedures. All collected information is stored in your PDA for easy reference throughout your adventure.
  • Use Your PDA Frequently – Your PDA serves as an essential tool for managing tasks, viewing your inventory, accessing different areas, and keeping track of important procedural notes.
  • Taking Blood Samples – To obtain a blood sample from an animal, grab the Blood Syringe from the Gadget Trolley. Approach the animal from behind, waiting until it stops moving (indicated by a green interaction square) to utilize the syringe. This step is crucial for testing diseases and developing cures for mutated creatures.
  • Capturing Sound Readings – To monitor an animal’s sound levels, use the ASSA device available on the Gadget Trolley. Stand close to the animal while using it until the reading is complete.
  • Unlocking Animal Enclosures – To gain access to all animal enclosures, you must complete at least one playthrough, regardless of the ending achieved.

Crafting and Using Medicine Darts in Zoochosis

To treat any sick animals within the zoo’s enclosures, you’ll need to develop the right medicine based on their illnesses and utilize darts to vaccinate them. Crafting occurs at the Veterinary Station aboard the KATIE train which facilitates your movement throughout the zoo.

After you have gathered all necessary readings and samples from the animals in a designated enclosure, interact with the computer at the Veterinary Station to access the ‘Diagnose’ and ‘Crafting’ menus. Begin by accurately diagnosing your sick animals by analyzing their flagged symptoms (temperature, blood, etc.). Be mindful that different diseases present unique symptom sets, so choose wisely.

Once you have made an accurate diagnosis, switch to the Crafting menu and browse the list of Formulas to find the right medicine for your ailing animals. Pay attention to the descriptions on the right screen side, which indicate the diseases each Formula addresses.

When you’ve identified the appropriate Formula, ensure you have sufficient chemical components required for crafting it. These ingredients are often found in various colored vials scattered around the zoo. If you lack the necessary quantities, you will need to scavenge for more.

Once everything is gathered, click ‘Create’ at the bottom of the screen to initiate crafting. The machine will produce the medicine and encase it in a dart for your Dart Gun (located on your Gadget Trolley). If several doses are required, click the ‘Create’ button repeatedly until you have the desired number of darts, which will be placed in your ‘Things’ inventory.

To reload your Dart Gun, you can do so through your PDA (click on the dart in your inventory and select ‘Use’) or via the gadget submenu at the bottom left corner of your screen (press ‘R’ to reload a dart type; press ‘MMB’ to switch between dart options). The latter approach is often more efficient, especially when dealing with aggressive or mutated animals.

Identifying Sick Animals in Zoochosis

Beyond feeding the animals throughout the various enclosures, Paul also has the responsibility of performing tests and keeping an eye on sick animals. Unfortunately, many animals display signs of illness, and recognizing these symptoms is vital for diagnosing their conditions and crafting appropriate medications to ensure their safety from potential mutations.

Start by observing for visual cues of sickness when you interact with the animals. While some may appear normal, others may show unusual behaviors like strange vocalizations, agitated movements, and, notably, vomiting. A telltale sign (which can be noted on a poster if you’re observant) is an animal sleeping for prolonged periods, suggesting lowered energy or metabolism.

Additionally, utilizing the tools available on your Gadget Trolley is essential for determining which animals are unwell and their specific symptoms. Gathering fecal samples, taking blood tests, measuring body temperature, performing sound evaluations, and using UV light for wound detection all contribute to identifying the diseases affecting the animals, guiding you in creating the right medications.

Every Ending in Zoochosis & How to Achieve Them

Apart from the tutorial, Zoochosis is an open-ended game greatly influenced by the choices you make during your journey. Though the main story is concise, there are numerous possible endings available (up to 23, according to the developers), meaning even minor decision changes can lead to different conclusions each time.

Listed below are various possible endings in Zoochosis that we’ve uncovered so far, featuring notable and distinctive endings with particular actions needed to achieve them. This section is a work in progress and will be expanded as more endings are discovered.

Neutral Ending – AFK (or Don’t Sign NDA) Ending

One of the simplest endings to achieve in Zoochosis, this scenario is unlocked by not signing the NDA, resulting in “Doc”(later known as Oliver) losing patience and infecting Paul with the parasite, dragging him to his demise.

True Best Ending (Everyone Survives)

In this ideal conclusion, Paul injects himself with the parasite’s poison, teaming up with Sarah to expose Oliver and the sinister organization responsible for the zoonotic plague. Paul positions himself as bait outside the Mother’s enclosure while Sarah stealthily sets up a hidden camera.

When Oliver arrives and threatens to eliminate everyone (including Paul’s wife, who alerted the authorities), Sarah ambushes him, knocking him unconscious before injecting him with the parasite poison. The Mother then drags the infected Oliver into her enclosure, ultimately consuming him, resulting in the Mother also succumbing to the poison. Simultaneously, Paul expels the parasite from his body, surviving the ordeal.

After the incident, Sarah and Paul escape the zoo, with Paul noting not only his survival but also acquiring Oliver’s car parked nearby.

Bad Ending 1 – The Mother Eliminates Everyone

In this dismal ending, Paul and Sarah attempt to build a case against Oliver by recording their last encounter along with capturing the Mother. However, during Sarah’s attempt to incapacitate Oliver and inject him, the Mother seizes Oliver and everyone else (including Paul’s wife, Lily), killing them all, resulting in the loss of critical evidence.

Bad Ending 2 – Paul Murders Sarah and Meets His End

In another unfortunate ending, Paul chooses to kill Sarah with an axe and confronts Oliver alone. Ultimately, he succumbs to the parasite within him and collapses. When Oliver opens the Mother’s enclosure, Paul meets a grim fate.

Bad Ending 3 – Paul is Fed to the Mother

This ending is one of the more straightforward “bad”outcomes where, after visiting enough enclosures and returning to the Hub, Oliver confronts Paul, now incapacitated by his infection. Oliver consequently opens the Mother’s enclosure and offers Paul as a meal, which ends the game immediately.

Depending on your interactions with Lily during the gameplay, Oliver may also capture and kill her, claiming that her fate is “in the Grinder.”

Bad Ending 4 – Sarah’s Death and Paul’s Revenge on Oliver

In this particular “bad”ending, it is revealed that Oliver has killed Sarah and fed her to the Mother after discovering her hiding in the lab. As Oliver is about to repeat the same fate to Paul, he uses the axe to eliminate Oliver, abruptly ending the game.

Bad Ending 5 – Paul’s Mutation and Violence Against Oliver

In this “bad”ending, two variations exist where Paul fully mutates and succumbs to the parasite. One possibility occurs on the train, where Oliver comes to investigate, leading to a mutated Paul ambushing and killing him.

The other scenario unfolds in the office bathroom, where Sarah locks Paul inside for safety. Hours later, Oliver checks on Paul, who attacks him as soon as the bathroom door opens. Witnessing this, Sarah is then pursued and eliminated by Paul.

Bad Ending 6 – Oliver Ambushes Lily

In this ending, as morning breaks, Paul goes to meet Lily at the exit door. She comes to bring him breakfast, which unfortunately includes the meat he previously gave her and their daughter, Gina. Suddenly, Oliver arrives and either knocks out or kills Lily off-screen. He then takes both of them to the Mother’s enclosure, declaring that his wife would “make a nice dessert,”ultimately feeding them to the Mother.
