Aaron Paul is renowned for his iconic portrayal of Jesse Pinkman in the acclaimed series Breaking Bad. However, he almost made his mark in two notable films directed by Christopher Nolan.
Over a decade ago, Paul garnered three Emmy Awards for his role as the drug-dealing Pinkman in Vince Gilligan’s crime drama, Breaking Bad. Widely regarded as one of television’s finest shows, the series ran for five seasons and inspired a follow-up movie, significantly boosting Paul’s career and leading to roles in various projects, including Need for Speed, BoJack Horseman, Black Mirror, and Westworld.
The Missed Opportunities: Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy and Interstellar

During the height of Breaking Bad‘s popularity, Paul was in discussions to join both Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and the science fiction epic Interstellar. Unfortunately, he was unable to accept due to scheduling conflicts.
Reflecting on this, Paul shared with ScreenRant, “I sat down with Christopher Nolan on another project. This was years ago. I think it was for Interstellar, but I was offered a very small role – you’re literally just reminding me of this – in one of the Batman movies he was doing.”
Despite the minor nature of the role, he expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating, “I love Batman. I think Batman’s probably my favorite because he’s kind of a real guy, right? He’s just a guy with a lot of money and a lot of toys, and he’s not messing around.”

While he did not specify which character he was considered for, it appeared to be a supporting role rather than a leading one. Paul humorously recalled, “I was like, ‘Ah, it would have just been so cool to just be in 30 seconds of one of those movies.’” This sentiment highlights his admiration for Nolan’s work and the Batman franchise.
As for future possibilities, there is still hope for Paul to join the cast of The Batman Part II, directed by Matt Reeves, featuring Robert Pattinson in the titular role. In the meantime, cinephiles can explore our ranking of Christopher Nolan’s films and stay updated on his upcoming project, The Odyssey.
