Despite many people assuming that Kim Ji-won was a model student during her school days, the truth is that she dropped out of school during middle school and pursued a career as an actress.
Kim Ji-won’s childhood dream was to become a kindergarten teacher, but that changed when she entered elementary school. Although she didn’t enjoy being the center of attention, she found joy in expressing herself. It was during this time that she first discovered acting through her participation in a theater club at her elementary school.
During her time in middle school, Kim Ji-won took on multiple roles, including a Christmas performance at a church. She also spent almost a year living with her maternal relatives in Chicago, the US, just as she was becoming comfortable with acting.
Despite returning to her middle school in Korea from the US, Kim Ji-won was faced with the news that she would have to repeat an academic year. This led her to make the decision to drop out of school and take the GED exam.
During that period, Kim Ji-won was discovered on the street and made a sudden entry into the entertainment world. To equip herself for her debut, which could involve singing and acting, she dedicated 3 years to mastering acting, choreography, and Japanese, in addition to receiving vocal coaching.
After successfully obtaining her GED, Kim Ji-won was able to pursue her education in high school. Despite her busy schedule as a trainee, she made a conscious effort to attend all evening self-study sessions. Following her debut, Kim Ji-won was admitted to Dongguk University’s Department of Theater with a major in Acting in 2011.
Over time, Kim Ji-won’s acting abilities have been increasingly acknowledged as she took on roles in a variety of projects, including “High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged”, “The Heirs”, “Descendants of the Sun”, “Fight For My Way”, “Arthdal Chronicles”, and “My Liberation Notes”.
Kim Ji-won has gained global fame for her portrayal of Hong Hae-in in the popular tvN drama “Queen of Tears”.
According to an announcement by HighZium Studio on June 28th, Kim Ji-won’s first solo fanmeeting will take place in Seoul on June 22nd and 23rd. Following the Seoul fanmeeting, the actress will embark on her first Asian fanmeeting tour, starting with Osaka, Japan on July 7th.
