How to Add Auto-Generated Captions to Your TikTok Videos

By allowing creators to add auto-generated captions, TikTok has made it easier for everyone to make their content more accessible to people through the addition of captions to their videos.

The following are the steps to add captions to your videos:

  2. To enable automatic subtitles for your content on TikTok, click on the ‘captions’ option in the right-hand menu and accept the consent form that appears. Then, choose the ‘turn on captions’ option.
  3. Once your captions are ready, you can review them to make sure everything is accurate. Tap the play button next to each line, and check that your captions match the content of your video.
    • If you need to make changes, you can tap the text and retype captions.
  4. Once you have completed your review, click on save to finalize the process.
  5. After making any necessary edits, you can proceed to upload your video to the platform.

Please note that once your video has been published, you will not be able to make any changes to the captions.

How to Add Captions to TikTok When Watching Videos

To ensure that subtitles are displayed automatically, the initial step is to verify that the auto caption feature is activated on your account.

To accomplish this, navigate to your Settings and privacy and select the Accessibility tab. From there, you will find the option to Enable auto-generated captions at all times. Ensure that the toggle is turned on.

If you wish to disable captions for specific videos, you can do so by selecting the captions while the video is playing and then choosing the ‘hide captions’ option. To re-enable them, simply tap on the ‘captions’ button once more and they will reappear.
