As Nintendo Cracks Down on Emulation, One Dares to Stick Around on iOS Store.

Despite competitors attempting to make a break for it, a popular Nintendo emulation app continues to hold a prominent position on Apple’s iOS store. This demonstrates that taking risks, or in this case, embracing retro gaming, can lead to success.

Despite facing pressure from both the U.S. antitrust lawsuit and the EU’s Digital Market Act, Apple ultimately made the decision to allow retro game emulators onto the app store. As a result, it is now officially possible to emulate games on the iPhone. However, this change has not encouraged many emulators to enter the market, likely due to the strict anti-emulation stance maintained by major gaming companies such as Nintendo.

The iOS store still offers the game-hosting app “Delta,”allowing iPhone users in specific regions to download it. This app enables game emulation by sideloading game files from various websites that provide retro game files onto your iPhone.

The Delta emulator is capable of hosting a variety of classic gaming titles, such as those from the NES, SNES, Gameboy, GB Color, GB Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 64, and Sega Genesis libraries, as long as you have the necessary game files. While some systems can be run natively, others will require a bios download in addition to the game files.

Delta has announced that it is currently developing emulation for more consoles to be added in the future. However, there is uncertainty about its availability on the iOS store in the long run as the companies responsible for the retro games being emulated may target Delta.
