Valorant star aspas is reportedly preparing to depart from Leviatán, entering negotiations with other teams after experiencing friction with the Argentinian organization’s management.
The Brazilian Duelist, who achieved victory as a Valorant Champions 2022 winner, expressed dissatisfaction with Leviatán due to his lack of involvement in both past and future team decisions related to its roster and coaching staff, according to a report by Bruno Povoleri.
Reportedly, aspas was a challenging player to please and was consulted on various roster decisions. Tensions arose mid-season between him and the team’s management, particularly during a coaching transition.
aspas aimed for his former LOUD teammate, fRoD, to take over the coaching role. However, the organization ultimately promoted Itopata to head coach and recruited Juv3nile as an assistant coach.
Since his stellar performance at Valorant Champions 2022, aspas has remained at the pinnacle of the game.
While there was a possibility of aspas continuing with the VCT Americas organization based on his prospects in the free market, a recent report from VSpace indicates that he is already in discussions to join other teams for the 2025 season.
The main hurdle preventing an immediate signing involves negotiations about teams covering his contract’s termination clause, as aspas signed with Leviatán through 2025 last offseason. This situation might result in him being trapped in a contract, despite his desire to leave.
Considered one of the most sought-after prospects in the current offseason, aspas has led various teams to impressive major tournament runs. Notably, he helped Leviatán secure victory in VCT Americas Stage 2 and achieved a third-place finish at the Valorant Champions 2024. He also earned the title of MVP for the 2024 VCT season.
It is important to note that aspas will not come at a low cost for any VCT teams, as he can demand a high salary due to his remarkable achievements, along with a potentially significant termination fee.
As of now, no specific teams have been associated with aspas. However, given his international aspirations, a transition away from VCT Americas—similar to the career paths of his former LOUD teammate Saadhak or yay‘s shift to VCT Pacific with Bleed—remains a distinct possibility.
