Baldur’s Gate 3 player finds heartbreaking interaction only the most evil Tavs will get

Scratch is widely adored by players in Baldur’s Gate 3, leading them to go above and beyond to ensure his safety and happiness. However, those who choose to play as the most nefarious of Tavs may encounter a heart-wrenching encounter in Act 3.

When arriving at Rivington during Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, the Sword Coast Couriers are encountered and it is revealed that Scratch used to be a dog for the couriers.

The kennel master, Angry Mar’hyah, is known for her cruel treatment of the dogs. If Scratch is accompanying you when you meet her, you must pass a Persuasion check to ensure he remains by your side and does not go back to his previous job.

The majority of players have made every effort to ensure they pass this check and keep Scratch. However, if you are embodying a truly malevolent Tav, you may be aware of the consequences awaiting you if you release him.

After speaking with Mar’hyah, when you return, he will inquire about when you both can leave. If you apologize and say, “Scratch, I didn’t intend for this to happen,”he will question, “What happened? When will you take me home?”Reddit user ‘kingy963’ recounted.

“To add to the difficulty, if you try to reassure him and declare that this is now his permanent residence, he will likely respond with ‘I want to go with you – master?’ and continue to call out to you as you walk away, saying ‘Master? Master?’ explained the OP.”

This encounter deeply affected numerous players of Baldur’s Gate 3, as the character begins referring to you as “master”in an attempt to bring you back, despite the fact that you have always been close friends.

“The situation is made even more dire by the fact that upon initial meeting, he does not claim to have a master but rather a friend. In fact, he consistently refers to others as “friend”. When he addresses you as “Master”, it feels as though he is willing to lower himself in order to be accepted once again,”a player remarked.

Even players who intentionally choose to play evil have avoided returning Scratch to Angry Mar’hyah, suggesting that not many have come across this dialogue with the best boy.

Luckily, you won’t have to endure that experience in order to receive any special rewards. By keeping Scratch and utilizing save scumming as needed, you can ensure his continued happiness and loyalty throughout your entire playthrough.
