Boruto’s Clever Naruto Callback in Chapter 10

Boruto Two Blue Vortex Chapter 10 features several significant events happening simultaneously, so you may have overlooked Himawari’s clever reference to Naruto amidst all the action.

The latest chapter of the Boruto Two Blue Vortex manga continues the story of Naruto, making it clear that it is a sequel. As expected, there are references to the parent series, one of which was subtly included and may have gone unnoticed upon first reading.

In Chapter 10 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Himawari’s team is struggling to defeat Jura. The God Tree’s manifestation is determined to devour the youngest Uzumaki, and despite Team 10’s efforts to defend her, they are no match for their powerful opponent.

On the other hand, Himawari is preoccupied with Kurama’s comeback. However, at the climax, when it appears that Inojin sacrifices himself to save her, she is consumed by fury and unleashes her initial Bijuu form.

This scene in Boruto appears to be a significant reference to the original Naruto, where Sasuke nearly sacrificed himself to save the main character. This then caused the hotheaded ninja to tap into the powers of Kurama for the very first time. However, this is not the only allusion to Naruto in Chapter 10.

Shueisha/Pierrot

As Himawari takes on the Kyuubi mode, her hair whips about just like Kurama’s flexible tails. This has sparked speculation among fans about whether she possesses the ability to wield her hair as a weapon in this form. However, this is actually a subtle reference to another powerful female Uzumaki.

Himawari’s hair, like Kushina’s when she was angry, has a tendency to fly. While Kushina’s was often used for comedic effect, showcasing her explosive moods, Himawari has not inherited her grandmother’s fiery personality. However, it seems that she has inherited her temper. Similar to Kushina, she is not someone to be taken lightly.

Similarly, there are fans who share this theory. As pointed out by a commenter on Reddit, “I believe this is simply a reference to Kushina’s display of anger,”while another remarked, “She definitely inherited her grandmother’s fiery personality.”A third fan chimed in, “But let’s not forget that Kushina’s hair also displayed this trait to represent the 9 tails.”

The events that unfold after Himawari utilizes her Kyuubi powers will be unveiled in Chapter 11 of Boruto Two Blue Vortex, scheduled for release on June 20, 2024.
