Jin discussed his post-discharge plans in an interview with Weverse Magazine on July 10. He revealed his commitment to immediately resuming his schedule by participating in the ‘BTS Festa’ the day after his release, stating that it was a necessary task.
After being discharged from active duty in the army on June 12, Jin wasted no time and attended the ‘2024 Festa’ the very next day, June 13. At the event, he met and interacted with ARMY in a hugging event, which quickly became a trending topic.
He explained that taking part in the ‘BTS Festa’ proved to be quite demanding, noting, “It was quite a challenge and I faced a lot of pressure as I didn’t have sufficient time to get ready. Despite the difficulty, I pushed through because of my love for ARMY.”
Jin reflected on his discharge from the military, stating, “Despite being officially discharged, it still feels like I’m on a temporary break and that I might have to return to the base. The feeling of being fully discharged hasn’t sunk in yet.”
In addition, he revealed that he continues to feel very tired around 10 or 11 PM, however he is slowly adapting by matching his sleep schedule with his work schedule, occasionally staying up late and rising at 5 AM.
Jin reminisced about his discharge day, where the BTS members joined in the celebration. He remembered that RM was playing the saxophone beside him, but he didn’t notice it at the time. It was only later, when he saw it online, that he realized the background music for his discharge was ‘Dynamite.’ Being an instructor, Jin was accustomed to hearing the recorded saxophone sounds of the military band at ceremonies, so he assumed it was the same for his discharge.
At present, Jin is the only BTS member who is not serving in the military. During a recent event, Jin shared that his fellow members kept expressing their envy towards him. Even the protocol team members watching noticed and commented on how genuinely envious the other members looked. Jin joked and teased them, which annoyed them but also led to entertaining reactions for about 30 minutes.
Jin, who made his debut in 2013 and has been adored by ARMY for 11 years, was once asked how he manages to consistently give his all every day for such a long period of time. He responded with genuine sincerity, stating, “BTS has a deep love for ARMY, so it’s only natural to want to give our best for the people we care about.”
At present, it has been officially announced that Jin will be a torchbearer for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
