Captain Lee Rosbach responded to Captain Sandy Yawn’s suggestion to refrain from waking the chef on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9.
During the Season 9 premiere of Below Deck Mediterranean on June 3, second stew Elena Dubaich woke up Chef Johnathan Shillingford when the charter guests requested food late at night and she required his assistance.
During the tip meeting on June 10th, Captain Sandy Yawn instructs her to never disturb the chef after learning of the incident.
Upon viewing the episode, a fan of Below Deck on X was curious about Captain Lee Rosbach’s approach to the situation and requested his thoughts.
On June 4, a fan posted, “Captain Lee, is it true that we should ‘Never Wake The Chef?’ You, Sir, are our ultimate source of knowledge on all things ‘superyacht.’ We absolutely adore you, Captain Lee!”
The captain responded the next day, stating, “If the guests request it and the stewards are unable to handle it, then it is appropriate to wake the chef. To sum it up, no, this is not true, at least not on my vessel.”
Captain Lee disagreed with Captain Sandy Yawn’s management style.
Despite Captain Lee’s confidence in his response, this could potentially be another instance of him taking a jab at his fellow Below Deck star, as their lack of friendship has been previously established.
During Below Deck Season 10, Captain Sandy filled in for Captain Lee while he was on medical leave. However, he was displeased when she terminated two of the stews without informing him while he was away.
Given the ongoing feud between the captains, it comes as no surprise to fans that Captain Lee holds a different view from Captain Sandy’s rule of “never waking the chef.”This difference can be attributed to their contrasting management styles on the boat.
Some viewers may be curious about whether the outcome on Below Deck Med would have been different if Captain Lee had been in command instead of Captain Sandy.
