The anticipation for Black Ops 7 continues to build as the franchise reintroduces its beloved Zombies mode. Although an official announcement is pending, numerous insights regarding gameplay and map features have emerged, generating excitement among the community.
The excitement peaked during the recent Xbox Games Showcase with the debut trailer for Black Ops 7, marking the next chapter for the Call of Duty series in 2025. In addition to fresh campaigns and multiplayer modes, the revival of Zombies has been officially confirmed.
The previous installment, Black Ops 6, successfully revitalized the Zombies experience, especially after the mixed reception of the open-world MWZ. Standout maps such as Liberty Falls and Citadelle des Morts left a lasting impression. The question on every fan’s mind now is whether Black Ops 7 can maintain this promising trajectory.
Release Schedule for Black Ops 7 Zombies
While no specific release date is confirmed, it has been assured that the Zombies mode will be accessible from day one of Black Ops 7’s launch. Traditionally, Call of Duty titles are launched in late October or early November, so fans can expect a similar timeline this year.
Overview of BO7 Zombies

According to Activision, Zombies in Black Ops 7 will once again adopt the round-based format familiar to fans, similar to what was seen in Black Ops 6. This classic gameplay mechanic sets players in an elaborate environment where they face escalating hordes of foes.
This format, first launched with World at War, remains a fan favorite, despite some ambitious attempts to evolve the concept into more open-world formats in titles like Modern Warfare 3 and Vanguard.
While specific gameplay footage is yet to be revealed, one can expect iconic features such as the Mystery Box, Pack-a-Punch machines, and GobbleGums to resurface.
The storyline will follow the events from BO6, delving deeper into the enigmatic Dark Aether.
Rumored Maps for Black Ops 7
Recent leaks from industry insider ‘TheGhostOfHope’ suggest that Black Ops 7 Zombies will resurrect prominent maps from BO2, specifically TranZit and Mob of the Dead.
TranZit was groundbreaking at its debut in 2012, known for its expansive interconnected regions, including locations like a Bus Depot, Diner, and Town area. Players traveled between these sites aboard a bus, adding a unique dynamic to the gameplay and introducing buildable elements like turrets and traps.

Meanwhile, Mob of the Dead, set on the infamous Alcatraz Island, broke new ground with its design, featuring distinct areas like the Cell Block and Warden’s Office. This map has previously been reimagined as Blood of the Dead in Black Ops 4, which expanded its regions for exploration.
According to the leaks, the upcoming title aims for a “straight-up”remaster of both maps, so players should not expect a drastic overhaul in terms of aesthetics or layout. However, considering the age of these maps, some enhancements to align with modern gaming standards are likely.
In addition to the Zombies offerings, there is speculation concerning remastered versions of every multiplayer map from Black Ops 2. While this remains unconfirmed, initial reports suggested that the developers are focusing on delivering both remastered and original maps, drawing inspiration from the series’ classic entries.
Activision has committed to providing a comprehensive update over the summer, signaling that more information is on the way. Stay tuned for further announcements as they develop!
