Upon entering the world of Escape from Tarkov, players are instantly immersed in a cutscene followed by a tutorial. However, the tutorial’s limited scope may leave newcomers feeling unprepared, which aligns with the game’s reputation as a hardcore military simulation.

There are no detailed maps to guide you, nor clear objectives. To assist you in navigating this initial experience, below is a structured guide to completing the Escape from Tarkov tutorial effectively.

The tutorial takes place on the Ground Zero map, designed for beginners. Although veterans may notice minor adjustments in the layout, the essence remains intact.

Your adventure begins in the lobby of the Terragroup building. Make your way to the central desk and gather all healing items available. Don’t forget to loot the tape positioned atop a white notebook. Press the “M” key to play the tape and progress to your next objective.

Although no specific objectives are displayed at this stage, the pathway is relatively straightforward. Facing the barricaded entrance, turn right and proceed down the hallway leading to the parking lot. Along the way, you’ll encounter a fallen enemy clutching a Salewa (essential for a side quest) and an MPX accompanied by three magazines.

Switch to the MPX to better handle the upcoming challenges. Continue to the end of the hallway, then take a left toward the parking garage. Prepare for combat against two or three Scavs; utilize vehicles for cover to eliminate them. Be sure to loot their bodies for valuable healing items, weapons, and ammunition, and check the nearby designated loot spots.

Once you’ve dealt with the Scavs, proceed to the opposite side of the parking garage and vault over the sandbags to exit. More Scavs await outside—ensure you eliminate them all to secure a safe passage.

Cross the street and enter the second building on your right; it’s the only structure available for exploration. Move straight ahead through the hallway where you’ll face additional enemies. At the hallway’s end, you’ll find a closed door on the left—open it and navigate towards the staircase, descending as you follow the designated path.

Eventually, you’ll reach the back entrance of the building, but be prepared for more Scav encounters outside. Take them down from the safety of inside before venturing out. It’s worth noting that nearby tents contain valuable supplies, including A-1 Medkits, CARs, and Splints. Make sure to grab these if you have room in your inventory.

Upon heading outside, turn left to spot a green flare next to a gated fence—this marks your Klimov Street extraction point. Successfully reaching this location will transport you back to the Escape from Tarkov lobby, where you can interact with traders, accept quests, and delve into the main storyline.
