In Black Myth: Wukong, players encounter a variety of engaging quests and mysterious NPCs, particularly merchant NPCs. Some, like the Man-In-Stone, transform from formidable bosses into deceptive vendors, while others offer genuine assistance. One such ally is the Xu Dog, a merchant who consistently provides benefits to players as they progress through the game.
1. How to finish the Xu Dog questline?
To complete the Xu Dog questline, reach Chapter 2 and travel to Yellow Wind Ridge. Cross the bridge at Sandgate and enter a tunnel to find Xu Dog, where you must assist him in retrieving one of his medical formulae stolen by a frog-type miniboss.
Xu Dog is a friendly character and merchant encountered in Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong. As the story progresses, players will discover that Xu Dog is a mobile NPC who appears at various stages, providing valuable benefits each time.
This character teaches players how to craft consumable medicine, as well as how to obtain passive buffs from Celestial Medicines.
To find Xu Dog, begin at Sandgate Village located in the Yellow Wind Ridge region during Chapter 2. Follow the path and navigate across a pond you encounter.
After crossing, take a left to locate the Village Entrance Shrine. You will find a wooden bridge, under which lies a secret ditch. Follow this ditch to access a tunnel leading to Xu Dog.
Here, you will meet the somewhat furry ‘Big Dog’ who offers help. To befriend him, assist him in recovering his medicine formula by defeating the miniboss frog Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw.
Upon returning the formula, Xu Dog rewards you with 2 Evil Repelling Medicament and teaches you the craft of consumables, enhancing your journey by utilizing the items you’ve collected.
2. How to unlock Celestial Medicines in Black Myth: Wukong?
To unlock Celestial Medicines, visit the Crouching Tiger Temple and explore the Cellar area where Xu Dog from Chapter 2 will instruct you on crafting these powerful items.
From the Crouching Tiger Temple, take the tunnel that descends steeply, bringing you to the Temple’s Cellar.
This dimly lit area requires you to navigate to the cellar’s far end, where you will find Xu Dog once again.
After helping him recover his medical formula, Xu Dog now offers to teach you the divine craft of Celestial Medicines.
The key distinction between Mortal and Celestial Medicines is that Mortal Medicines provide temporary active buffs, while Celestial Medicines provide enduring passive benefits.
He will also give you a Mind Core, which is essential for crafting Celestial Medicines (these can be found as drops and within chests). Various types of Celestial Medicines can boost stamina, health, mana, and even critical hit chances.
After completing Xu Dog’s questline, he becomes a trustworthy merchant offering recipes and other valuable items in exchange for Mind Cores.
