CORTIS Makes Their Mark with Debut Album at Color Outside the Lines Showcase

On August 18, in the vibrant setting of Salt Travel Hall located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, the eagerly awaited debut album showcase for Color Outside the Lines took center stage with the emerging boy group CORTIS. During the event, member Martin addressed the audience, acknowledging the inevitable pressures of entering the music industry.“It would be a lie to say we don’t feel any pressure. We are working with a sense of responsibility, so please watch over us, ” he stated candidly.

CORTIS proudly holds the distinction of being BigHit Music’s first boy group in six years since the launch of TXT. Their name, derived from the phrase “Color Outside the Lines, ” reflects their ethos of creativity—encouraging a mindset that transcends conventional norms.

Being hailed as the “younger siblings”of naming giants BTS and TXT, the group has already gained significant attention even before their official debut. Notably, members Martin and James showcased their musical prowess through their contributions to HYBE’s successful track ILLIT‘s “Magnetic, ”establishing a solid foundation for their impending rise.

The members of CORTIS expressed their complex feelings, caught between pressure and exhilaration as newcomers. Leader Martin reiterated the sentiment of responsibility, saying, “Thanks to our outstanding seniors, we are motivated to work responsibly and do our best, so please watch us.”

Fellow member Juhoon echoed similar thoughts, adding, “It would be a lie to say we feel no pressure. We are grateful to debut under BigHit Music. It’s uncommon for rookies to participate in the album-making process, and we appreciate that opportunity. We will strive to excel as CORTIS.”

During the showcase, the group also shared valuable insights gleaned from their interactions with seniors from BTS and TXT. Seonghyeon noted, “We were lucky to meet some seniors. BTS members cheered us on, while TXT provided practical feedback on our performances, guiding us on expressions and stage details. This support has been incredibly beneficial.”

Martin reminisced about his experience meeting BTS at J-Hope’s concert. He recalled one significant piece of advice that resonated deeply: “I learned to be grateful for what we have and never take it for granted. That inspiration fuels our determination, and for that, we are truly thankful.”

At the showcase, CORTIS officially launched their debut album Color Outside the Lines, featuring their title track “What You Want, ” which became available to the public at 6 p.m.the same day.
