Diablo 4 players delighted after discovery of D3 easter egg

Fans of the Diablo franchise recognized a Diablo 3 easter egg in the middle of the Kehjistan region in Diablo 4. Here’s what it is.

Diablo 4 often introduces new Dungeons and regions to protect Sanctuary. While the Blending Season invites them to discover the Vaults, there are other secret places. And it turns out that Blizzard has hidden some interesting easter eggs in these places.

In a Reddit post titled “Broken portal I found while searching for the Altars of Lilith,”player Meowlathotep shared a curious discovery. While exploring Kehjistan with his companion Seneschal, he came across a strange acronym on the ground. He then asked fans if there was any way to activate it.

Diablo 4 players confirmed that there was no way to activate it, nor to use it to summon bosses, but they noticed that the location resembled the hidden camp shown in Diablo 3.

“The entire area is a recreation of the Caldeum area from D3, down to the last building. Walk around a little, and you will see Alcanus,” said one user.

Caldeum was first introduced in Diablo 3 as one of the ancient capitals of Kehjistan. This location was the first revealed after Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, and was part of the Diablo 3 trailer. Caldeum was then occupied by Belial, the Lord of Lies. The location later disappeared after the events of the Reaper of Souls expansion.

Diablo 4 fans praised Blizzard for including a reference to Diablo 3. They wonder if this area could be used again in future seasons or even in the Vessel of Hatred expansion planned for late 2024.
