Learn all the details about Diablo 4 Season 5: Return to Hell, including its release date, new endgame modes, and more.
It appears that Diablo4 Season 5 will be the final season before the release of the Vessel of Hatred expansion, which will bring significant changes to the game. While Season 4 acted as a soft reset for Diablo 4 and featured a side story about the Iron Wolves faction, Season 5 promises to take players directly to Hell.
Despite being titled Season 5: Return to Hell, Blizzard has yet to officially confirm any further details. As Diablo 4 progresses, the absence of the Lord of Terror only becomes more noticeable. Keep reading for all the current information on Season 5 of Diablo 4.
Season 5 will be the last until the DLC.
Does Season 5 have a release date?
The start date for Diablo 4 Season 5 has been confirmed to be August 6, with the season ending on October 8, 2024. Interestingly, this is also the day when the highly anticipated Vessel of Hatred DLC will be released, coinciding with the beginning of Season 6.
What is Season 5’s theme for Diablo 4?
The title for Diablo 4’s Season 5 is Return to Hell. Though Blizzard has not revealed many details, it is likely a reference to The Lord of Terror, or will at least introduce a new side quest where players must venture into the depths of hell once again.
It is unlikely that Diablo will make an appearance until the next DLC expansion in 2025, or perhaps in 2026. However, it appears that we will once again venture into his realm during Season 5. It is worth noting that Diablo is not the sole demon from Hell, so Season 5 may bring a new adversary to confront.
In previous seasons of Diablo 4, players were constantly participating in numerous Helltide events. However, Return to Hell may require a different approach as players will now have to prevent these events from occurring at their source.
Season 5 features
The upcoming Season 5 of Diablo 4 will introduce several modifications to the gameplay. These include a more formidable version of The Butcher, a range of fresh Uniques and Legendary Aspects, and a new endgame feature called Infernal Hordes.
This feature will encourage players to join in on a wave-based mode that includes “survival-like decisions”between each wave. Ultimately, it will culminate in facing off against the Fell Council, who are anticipated to be the newest adversaries of the season.
Season 5 will mark the end of Diablo before the introduction of the Vessel of Hatred DLC, which will revamp the game with additional story elements, a fresh class, and the inclusion of mercenaries for hire. This will make it the final season of Diablo before the DLC’s release.
