Fortnite’s Sniper problem “worse” than ever despite changes in Season 2

Fortnite’s Sniper problem “worse” than ever despite changes in Season 2

Despite the recent adjustments to the loot pool, players still feel that snipers have been dominating the Fortnite island in Chapter 5 Season 2 and that the current meta is the worst.

In the 29.10 update, Fortnite eliminated the green and blue versions of Sniper Rifles, leaving only the Epic (purple) and Legendary (orange) versions available on the island.

Despite this, many players argue that the Sniper situation on the island has only worsened, with nearly everyone now equipped with this powerful weapon.

On Reddit, user ‘Diamond_Drew_1’ expressed their thoughts on the current weapon meta in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. They suggested that the Sniper should either be reworked to truly require skill or removed from the game entirely. Additionally, they offered some potential improvements that could address the issue.

The OP proposed various solutions, including reducing the magazine capacity and decreasing the body damage, to improve the balance of Snipers in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2.

One player commented, “It seems that instead of decreasing the likelihood of finding Snipers, all Snipers now appear as purple+.”Another player chimed in, “Snipers are becoming too common. I’ve even obtained legendary Snipers from common chests right after landing, which is actually quite amusing.”

One Redditor argued, “The Heavy Sniper should be reintroduced. It should be a one-shot, one-kill weapon, as snipers are meant to be high-risk, high-reward. Currently, there is no risk involved in using a sniper.”

Another player argued that the Reaper Sniper did not align with Fortnite’s design principles for Sniper Rifles. They stated, “A Sniper with such high damage that can instantly eliminate anyone with a single shot should not have a magazine capacity of more than 1 bullet, as it would be too forgiving.”

With only a little over a month left until the end of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 on May 24, it will be intriguing to observe whether the developers will implement any modifications that will impact the weapon meta in upcoming updates.
